ANTI – VIRUS SOFTWARE

Anti – virus software is a program or set of programs that are designed to prevent search
for, detect and remove software viruses and other malicious software like worms, trojans
adware and more.

WHY DO I NEED ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE?

These antivirus tool are critical for users to be installed and up to date because a computer without
antivirus software protection willl be infected within minutes of connecting to the internet. The
bombardment is constant, which means anti- virus companies have to update their detection tools
regularly to deal with the more than 60,000 new pieces of malware created daily.

Today’s malware changes appearance quickly to avoid detection by older, definition – based anti –
virus software. Viruses can be programmed to cause damage to your device, prevent a user from
accessing data, or to take control of your computer.

WHAT DOES ANTI – VIRUS SOFTWARE DO?

Several different companies build antivirus software and what each offer can vary but all perform
some essential functions:

● Scan specific files or directories for any malware or known malicious patterns
● Allow you to schedules scans to automatically run for you.
● Allow you to initiate a scan of a particular file or your entire computer, or of a CD or flash drive at
any time.
● Remove anytime any malicious code detected – sometimes you will be notified of an infection

and asked if you want to clean the file, other programs will automatically do this behind the
scenes.

2. NORTON ANTIVIRUS- is an anti – virus software product developed and distributed by Norton
life lock since 1991 as part of its Norton family of computer security products.
3. AVAST ANTI- VIRUS- is a family of cross – platform internet security applications developed by
Microsoft windows, macos, android and ios.
4. AVIRA – is known to be a super lightweight and reliable anti –virus that offers a comprehensive
selection of easy to use tools for all major devices, including PCs, macs, androids and ios
devices.
5. ESET – commonly known as Nod 32 – is an antivirus software package made by the Slovak
company set
6. AVG – is a line of anti – virus software developed by avg technologies, a subsidiary of a vast
company. It is available for Windows, MacOs and android.
7. MCAFEE – free installed on a wide selection of new windows 10 computers, owned by an
American global computer security company headquartered in Santa Clara California.
8. TREND MICRO – an antivirus and online security program developed by trend micro for the
consumer market. It is the fastest in responding to new internet threats.
9. F- SECURE - provides protection against viruses, spyware infected email attachments. It is a no
- string package which provides a core anti-virus protection for pc’s only. Its basic doesn’t even
include malicious URL filtering.
10. KASPERSKY ANTI – VIRUS – is a proprietary anti – virus program developed by Kaspersky
lab. It is designed to protect users from malware and it’s primarily designed for computers
running Microsoft windows.
