What Does Release 12.2.10 Include?

As a consolidated suite-wide patchset, this RUP includes new features, statutory and
regulatory updates, and enhancements for stability, performance, and security.

Release 12.2.10 is cumulative. That means that as well as providing new updates for this
release, it also includes updates that were originally made available as one-off patches for
earlier 12.2 releases.

Common Questions and Answers About Upgrading

 Q: Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.2.x to 12.2.10?

 A: Yes. Release 12.2.x customers can apply 12.2.10 directly to their environments.
EBS 12.2.10 is an online patch, so it can be applied while an existing Release 12.2.x
system is running.

 Q: Is there a direct upgrade path from Release 12.1 to Release 12.2.10?

 A: No. Release 12.1 customers must first upgrade to Release 12.2 before applying
12.2.10.

 Q: Is there a direct upgrade path from Release 12.0 to Release 12.2.10?

 A: No. Release 12.0 customers must first upgrade to Release 12.2 before applying
12.2.10.

 Q: Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 11i to 12.2.10?

 A: No. Release 11i customers must first upgrade to Release 12.2 before applying
12.2.10.

Why 12.2.9

Not only that, but the installation is likely to be complex for organisations that skip upgrades.
This is because the steps to apply R12.2.8 depend on what current E-Business Suite version
you have. Customers on 11i must upgrade to R12 before applying R12.2.8. No direct upgrade
path exists from R12.0 to R12.2.8 either. These customers will have to first upgrade to R12.2
before applying R12.2.8!

In our opinion, the cost to apply and test R12.2.8 does not justify the business benefits. If you
are already happy with your current version, why keep upgrading and spending money? You
could maintain your current version and save money for things that are really needed within
your business.
If you are waiting for Oracle to deliver the enhancement that you really need for your
business, you could be waiting for years. Oracle waits for a certain number of customers to
request the same thing, before it even contemplates delivering it.

Third-party support allows you to receive enhancements to your system faster, as well as
saving you from worrying about being on the latest version. To find out more about how
