LOGO FILE TYPES
M81
CREATIVE
When it comes to preparing my final logos to my clients, I like to send a robust package that
includes every file format under the sun that you might need.
But which formats do you need, when do you use them and why? For someone that doesn’t work
with these formats everyday like I do, it can be like reading a different language when looking at
the variety of file names.
This is why I’ve created my Logo File Type Cheat Sheet. Let’s keep things simple so you can get
onto what’s really importanat—like running your business.
PRINT VS DIGITAL
Let’s start here since it’s likely the first questions you will need to answer before you open the
folders. Below is a list of file formats that work best for each application.
The reason there are different files for print vs digital is each use a different set of colour formats
and have different levels of resolution requirements.
PRINT: set in CMYK with a minimum DIGITAL: set in RGB and have a minimum
print resolution of 300 DPI screen resolution of 72 to 150 DPI
