AI Unit 2: How does AI Work?

So, how does artificial intelligence work?

It’s not magic – it’s a technical solution to real-world challenges. This complex
process makes use of historical data and algorithms so that a machine can
react appropriately in its environment.

How would a humanoid or human-like robot answer a question like “What'll

the weather be like today?”

Well, it would analyze thousands of elements of historical and current data,

and find similar patterns and relationships to come up with the best suitable
answer. The more data it has, the better responses it can provide. So, over
time, it would keep learning from the human inputs and other data sources
and provide more appropriate answers to the question.

On the surface, humanoids, driverless cars or automatic responses to unique

human thoughts and queries can seem revolutionary. But inside, these
technologies work using a range of specific technical concepts including:
algorithms, complexity, and heuristics.

These basic principles deliver components, or models, of intelligence like

machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning.

This unit will dive deeper into the basic principles and the technological
aspects of AI.
