Direction: Answer the questions brief and concise

1. How do you promote nation building in the Philippines?

The easiest way for us to promote the nation building in the Philippines is by
providing them “National Education” which emphasizes the uniqueness of
different culture, origin and history of the actual nation, by educating the
people in your vicinity regarding with the benefits being one or united and we
must get rid of our crab mentality, of regionalism and the "tayo versus sila"
mindset. We must stand in the frontline of true service and have to endure
great sacrifices to help the needy, the sick, the poor and the hopeless, and the
victims of injustice. This will not be easy, but if every citizen of this nation
works together, we can help build a new Philippines.

2. In what way the DOST promote nation building?

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) promotes nation


building by means of providing a central directions, leadership and
coordination of all the scientific and technological activities, and formulating
policies. And also DOST have scholarships that can help aspiring students
that has an interest in the field of Science and Technology that potentially can
provide huge contribution in development of our country.

3. Who among the former Presidents of the Philippines do you like most
in terms of their contributions in science and technology in nation
building? Why?

Among the 5 former Presidents of our country that are listed in our module,
Former President Fidel V. Ramos has the most number of contributions to
nation building, since he focuses on the welfare of every citizen by
establishing the “Doctors to the Barrios”. A program that gives every gifted
Filipino to pursue their dream career in the field of Science and Engineering
in College. He also created and the laws which is related to the science and
technology.

4. Why people consider the use of technological


advancement harmful on the environment?

Because nowadays many of our technology that we use in our


everyday life consume more resources and power that they need
to operate and use in manufacturing them. Manufacturing of this
can lead to large amounts of waste and it is called a “technotrash”,
this kind of electronic trash contains all sorts of hazardous
materials that are very harmful for the environment.
Technological advancement can lead also to different kinds of
pollutions that can harmfully affect our environment and the
health of people.
