MODULE 1- TOPIC: G A D A W A R E N E SS

“Just because women are different does not mean they are incapable of achieving
satisfactory levels of performance.” This sentence instills the belief that women are capable and
are expected to perform alongside their male counterparts. The importance of this statement
will reverberate through not only combat arms but also all training as well.

In today’s modern warfare, women are serving as platoon leaders, company commanders,
intelligence personnel, civil-military operations practitioners, pilots, and even as members of
special operations units. Indeed, the women of the Philippine Army are successfully breaking
the barriers of gender stereotype. The Philippine Army had evolved to turn into a more gender-
responsive organization by empowering women to be a formidable fighting force and fully
mission capable in support to peace and development initiatives of the national government.
Hence, as we deliberately transform to become a world-class Army that is a source of national
pride, we must maximize our force by utilizing both our men and women to defeat insurgency
and terrorism in our country.

Women have been part of different responsibilities in this society as fast as or in some
cases faster than society has changed. Many of these changes have been good. For instance,
many women have succeeded and excelled in newly accessible jobs, specialties, and skills.
However, women still face stereotypes about who they are and how capably they perform their
duties. These attitudes and beliefs threaten the integrity of the Armed Forces as well as their
mission.

Physiologically, women are composed differently than men and many cannot perform the
same physical tasks as men. Regardless of arguments about gender equality, physical ability or
mental preparedness, I think this is a step in the right direction. Women have been fighting on
increasingly nonlinear battlefields with no front lines for years, and this decision will allow them
to be fully and officially recognized for their contributions.

The decision to permit women to serve in combat recognizes reality and advances
women’s equality. We should all want employment in our nation’s defense to be open to our
best talent, whether it comes in male or female form.

MODULE 2 - TOPIC: F O L L O W E R S H I P

✔️What is Followership?

It is the process in which subordinates recognize their responsibility to comply with orders of
leaders and take appropriate action. It is the ability to know where and when to articulate one’s
views on an issue, and then to have the loyalty and the devotion to carry out the final decision.
Followership, dominates our lives and our organizations, but a preoccupation with leadership
often constraints us from truly appreciating the nature of the follower.

According to Robert E Kelley who provides also an excellent framework in the “Praise of
Followers". He describes the characteristics of effective followership as being the same as
effective leadership, suggesting are definition of both roles. With good leaders setting an
example of followership, independent critical thinking and self-management can be developed
in leader and follower alike.

✔️What are the five followership patterns?

There are five followership patterns and those are; Effective, Conformist, Passive, Alienated
and Pragmatic Survivor. An Effective followership or “The Stars” is a follower who is both a
critical, independent thinker and active in behavior. They exhibit consistent behavior to all
people, regardless of their power in the organization and deal with conflict and risk. A
Conformist or “The Yes-People” is very busy, but doesn’t necessarily engage their brain to think
through what it is they are doing. They participate very willingly but don’t question orders. A
Passive or “The Sheep” think of a two year old who doesn’t want to do something and just
goes floppy. They don’t engage their brain enough, nor do they take concrete action. Not
showing any initiative nor responsibility. An Alienated is a follower who thinks extremely well,
but for some reason often snipes from the sidelines. They have got stuck where they are, a very
negative and feel they have lost their power. And the Pragmatic Survivor is a follower who has
qualities of all four extremes (effective, conformist, passive, alienated), depending on which
style fits with the prevalent situation.

✔️Give at least three (3) rules of good followership?

The rules of good followership are:

1. Accept Responsibility – Accept responsibility whenever offered.
2. Tell the Truth and Do Not Quibble – Your boss will be giving advice up the chain of
command based on what you say.
3. Do Your Homework – Give your boss all the information needed to make a decision.

✔️AM I good follower to the command of the Philippine Army? Justify.

Yes, I have the ability to obey and follow the command. I have a good attitude and
characteristics that can help in following the command, rules and regulations of the Philippine
Army for the betterment of my country as I develop myself also.

Being a great follower is having appropriate situational awareness of priorities and how to
best support those efforts. The follower must be able to collaborate and have the ability to
maintain good relationships with others up and down the leadership chain. Effective followers
don't just get things done. They keep leaders on their toes and bring out their very best. They
hold their leaders accountable to set a strong vision and define palpable objectives that are
achievable.

Effective followers are also critical thinkers, but with a positive attitude. And I think I have
those characteristics.

MODULE 3 - Topic: B A S I C S U R V I V A L

Test I. Part A.

Enumerate 5 basic things needed for survival you have in your house.

1. Food

2. Water

3. First aid kit

4. Flashlight

5. Phone and extra battery

Part B. ESSAY.

Why there is a need to keep basic survival kit in your house?

In the event of an emergency, it is important to have the right supplies on hand. The items
included in the kits help people respond to basic first aid needs and prevent illness. These kits
have emergency water, breathing protection devices, emergency lights and tools as well as
survival food and first aid supplies.

Having the items you need can be a life saver figuratively and literally in the event you
have to evacuate your home during an emergency. Being prepared means being equipped with
the proper supplies you may need in the event of an emergency or disaster. Survival kit is a
valuable tool to keep your family safe in the event of any emergency, including earthquakes,
typhoon and other disasters. Preparedness provides peace of mind and safety for yourself and
your loved ones, and ensures that essential survival supplies kept.
By investing in a preparedness kit, people can be sure that they have necessary supplies.
After a disaster, food and water could be compromised and people could be hurt. Having the
right equipment means that loved ones are always taken care of and people can survive until
help arrives.

Part C.If you don’t have these basic survival kit, pls explain the reason why?
Having the right survival gear helps people treat wounds, find help and more. Emergency
preparedness kits from LifeSecure can truly mean the difference between life and death.

Having not prepared in securing those basic survival kit creates more danger. In some
cases, we won't be able to exit your property. In others, the damage will be so extensive that
you won't be able to secure your belongings, which can result in theft or further damage from
and even loss by the elements. Most importantly, you may not be able to receive immediate
care for injuries.

We with our family may need to survive on our own after an emergency. Having sufficient
supplies such as food, water, medicine and emergency essentials is essential to life support but
if we failed to prepare all the important things to survive it can cause more problem and most
scary is death.

Test II. Case Situation

Just imagine that you are the only survivor of plane crash in Mountain of Timbukto, the
terrain is not suitable for humans. How are you going to survive while waiting for the rescue
team to arrive in your area.
Applying the lessons for survival, what will you do? How are you going to survive with the
situation?

In every situation, there are ways in order to survive, mostly we're in a panic mode
because it is very dangerous and it is putting ourselves between life and death. But if we have
the knowledge to fixed and cure ourselves we can survive. If I were in this situation, I will
always think wisely for me to be alive while waiting for the rescue or help.

First, I will find any things that can cure my wound or something that can help me with the
situation like first aid treatment (clothes) used as bandage to my wound. Things that can be
used to secure my safety, like water, medicine and food while waiting for the help. I will find a
safer place as temporary shelter. Second, I will check if there is anybody alive except me then if
there is anybody, i will take him/her at a safer place and arrange the water for him/her and me
from somewhere. I will take care of myself. I will try to access a help from somebody and call
for rescue team.

If the rescue didn't arrive for how many days, I will look for food to eat and make a tool to
help me with the food I will going to get able for me to live and survive.

Three primary responsibility of an interior guard are to: Preserve order. Protect property.
Enforce regulations.

The Interior Guard Duties is very essential to have safety and security. They sets of rules
and regulations where each and every personnel within the ranks must follow. Interior Guard is
detailed by the Commanders of all military installations to preserve order, protect property,
and enforce military regulations. Interior Guard Duties are a crucial thing for the military to stick
on and follow. More unto that. This would mean the success and failure of the primary missions
they undertake.

An interior guard is detailed by commanders of all military installations to preserve order,

protect property, and enforce military regulations. The installation commander is responsible
for the interior guards of their own areas. The elements of an interior guard are classified

No. Their action is not acceptable and correct. They are the one who secure and given
the responsibility to guard their post. Even though the next guards didn't show up they
should do their part not only as an officer but as their dedication to their responsibility
and duty as a good follower and officer. There are ways, they can contact the guards
next to them and ask why they can't duty or they can ask first their highest command
officer on what will be their going to do, or they can contact someone or co-buddy to
send them food or someone who can take off the rest of an hour. Secure first their post
before living.

Yes. To take charge of this post and all government property in view. To walk my
