COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course concentrates on the statistical aspects of conducting and analyzing sample
surveys and sampling frame construction. The course will cover materials on various
sampling designs including simple random sampling, systematic sampling, stratified
sampling, ratio estimation and cluster sampling. Application to real data from public
health and social science research will be used to illustrate the material. Statistical
software will be used to generate parameter estimates and associated standard errors.
PREREQUISITES
Introductory biostatistics course or equivalent.
COURSE STRUCTURE
Class time is 12 hours total. The structure of the workshop will primarily be lectures.
Students will have copies of all slides and data sets presented.
