Personal Development Plan

The healthcare industry can be quite complicated. It is a dynamic industry because of

government regulations and technological advancements. Therefore, healthcare managers

need to plan for their development to keep at par with changes in the industry. By having a

development plan, one is in a better position to prepare for uncertain circumstances. Having a

strong development is, therefore, very important for a healthcare manager. A development

plan involves the creation of objectives and setting of goals to show where one wants to be in

both the short term and the long term. With the objectives and goals in mind, it is possible to

come up with an effective personal development plan to achieve them. A personal

development plan takes into account not just one’s ambitions into account, it must also

consider such things as technological advancements, government policies, industry trends,

and the general economic trends.

Short-term goals

Education is my primary goal in the short term. Since I just joined the university, my

main objective within the next four years is to obtain an education, which teaches me about

healthcare management and how things operate within the healthcare system. At this time, the

main activity I will engage in is studying to acquaint myself with the theoretical perspectives

of healthcare management as well as the way healthcare systems work in different parts of the

world. This understanding is necessary for me as someone majoring in healthcare

management because it will provide me with examples of the way I should act when I finally

finish my studies and become a healthcare manager. Studying will give me a deep

understanding of the ethical considerations of healthcare managers and allow me to

understand what I should do and what I should not do as a healthcare manager. With this

knowledge, I will be able to avoid getting into trouble when I finally become s healthcare

manager. Besides studies, I will also look for opportunities to work in healthcare settings to

get exposed to real situations where physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

work with patients. This activity will give me an opportunity to see first-hand the way

healthcare professionals deal with their patients and compare that with what I have learned in

the classroom. Through this, I will be able to determine the things that I should do in the

healthcare setting when interacting with patients and the things I should not do. My aim for

doing that is that I want to be an all-rounded person when I finally graduate and enter the job

market so that I will have better chances of being hired by leading healthcare firms.

Long-term goals

My long-term personal goal is to work for a leading healthcare organization after

school. I want to work as a full-time healthcare manager for a leading healthcare organization

in either the United States or in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a monthly salary of at least

$3000. My objective is to always maintain a passing score based on the organization’s key

performance indicators. The achievement of then long-term goals will be determined in great

part by the success I achieve in school. I need to be good at school in both the theory and

practice of healthcare management to be able to get good grades, which will allow me to

graduate and have the credibility to be employed by a leading healthcare organization. Since

healthcare organizations will be hesitant to hire someone who has not done well in school, I

must work very hard to get good grades and increase my chances of landing a healthcare

manager job at a leading healthcare facility. Once I am done with schooling and I get hired by

a top-notch healthcare organization, I am going to search for reputable healthcare

organizations and send application letters and resume. In the healthcare organization where I

get hired, I will always ensure I get a passing score on the basis of the key performance

indicators of the organization.
