1、Applicable extension
1.1 This operating manual involves the aspects of the electric dust catcher, includes the
following: using conditions, appraisal standards, adjustment of equipment, test running,
sequence of operation, maintenance and repair, method of fault analysis overhaul and
security advice.
1.2 This operating manual is suitable for professional dry, plate and horizontal electric dust
catcher of industry, thermal power, metallurgy, papermaking, building materials,chemical
industry and so on,but is unsuitable for wet , vertical electric dust catcher.

2、Equipment Outline
The electric dust catcher is a kind of air purification equipment whose efficiency is high and
energy consumption is low,has the following merit:high effect of receiving the dust , small
resistance loss,magnanimous smoke processing, long service life ,low maintenance cost
and so on. As the request of environmental protection is more and more high situation,
electric dust catcher has been using more and more widespread. When uses the electric dust
catcher,you must operate according to this operating manual,not in the manual, should
operate according to the product of electric dust catcher related blueprint and technical
documents.
The kind and significance of electric dust catcher which product by our company as follows:

Note:The engineers of our company design the electric dust catcher according many
factors,such as different operating conditions, gas and smoke,geographic environment,
request of environmental protection and so on. Therefore, the using conditions and the
appraisal standards of the electric dust catchers which are made by us all conform to
technical data of the agreement. Otherwise, the relevant parameters should be amended. The main
design parameters and equipment standard content of this electric dust catcher read appendix
A.
The principle that electric dust catcher catch dust and particulate is as follow:when dust and
particulate pass through high-voltage field,after hitting the positive and negative ion and
the electron have been charged(been charged when the ions make diffusing movement),the
charged dust which been done by the power of electric field move to the opposite
electrodes and attach to the opposite ones.
The operation diagram of principle is below:

Two major parts of the electric dust catcher are electrical structure and mechanical structure
(body),the descriptions of main components and functions are as fellow.
3.1 Electrical structure
Electrical structure of the electric dust catcher is made from high-voltage direct current
power supply system (including the control system) and low-voltage control system.
3.1.1 Today,the usual kind of high-voltage Power Supply is GGAJ02,and the significance of
GGAJ02 below:

This set of equipment generally includes high voltage rectifier, the automatic control cabinet
and reactor,others just include high voltage rectifier, the automatic control cabinet.
According the electric field condition of gas and smoke,this set of equipment can keenly
change and control automatically electric field voltage,can adjust frequency of electric field
spark by current feedback signal,make its running under the optimum condition,achieve the
best effect of catching dust. This equipment has provided a quite perfect chain protection
system,can also be increased computer management function to meet request of the user.
3.1.2 Low-voltage control system and its functions include as follow:
a. control the program of positive and negative ion hitting;
b.the control of high voltage insulation heating and low temperature alarm;
c. material position examine and alarm control;
d.excretion and transmission of dust control;
e. gate, hole, cabinet security chain control;
f. temperature of enter and export examination and output;
g.set function and parameter of low voltage by computer;
h.comprehensive signal output and alarm equipment;
i. safe trip automatic grounding control。
Note:according to needs to set above function。
3.2 Mechanical structure(body)
The main body of this equipment includes the internal components, the external
component and the attached components. They ,the metal structure body、beam,
column, bar, plate, Shell and so on,are all conform to the GB50017 stipulation.
3.2.1 Internal components
3.2.1.1 System of anode
The construction of the anode system is suspension equipment anode plate impact rod and so
on.
The positive plate is board which receives the dust. It is made of 81, 2-81, 5 thin steel plates
that shaped by the special-purpose rolling mill. The positive plate produced by our
company is the 480C board at present.
It is to guarantee limit deviation of the space between cathode and anode that the plane of
anode row which is made of several anode board should have a better rigid ,and
its flatness should be ensured in the scope of stipulation.
3.2.1.2 System of cathode
Cathode system is made of hang cathode,top beam,vertical beam,top framework ,middle
framework,lower framework,cathode line and so on. The cathode line which is
made from special equipment gives out electron, It one of the key parts of the
electric dust catcher. The cathode line that made by our company are the spiral line
and the tubular line with prick.
Cathode hang which hangs at the top beam introduces high voltage line.
The big planar framework, that made of the vertical beam, the top beam, the angle steel and
so on, is used to fix the three small frameworks(top,middle and bottom) and the
axis of cathode hitting.
The three small frameworks are the support body of cathode line.
3.2.1.3 Anode hitting
Anode hitting is made of anode vibration transmission device,hitting axis,bearing in dust
and other components.
3.2.1.3 Cathode hitting
Cathode hitting that drives on the top is made of the cathode transmission device,the
vertical axis,the big and small gear of pin,bearing in dust other components.
Cathode hitting that is lateral transmission is made of the cathode transmission
device,bearing in dust other components. Hitting device is an important device of
electric dust catcher,dust which attached on the cathode plate and cathode line is
hit into dust vessel. Both of anode hitting and cathode hitting have used revolving
hammer to hit by lateral transmission. Because of bearing in dust of cathode hitting
fixed on the system component which attached negative high voltage,there is an
electric porcelaneous axis insulation at the end of cathode hitting axis in order to
isolate high-voltage.
3.2.2 Outer coat
3.2.2.1 Head of entrance(trumpet of entrance)
The entrance head is filtering section between entrance flue and electric shell. There is two or
three air distribution plate in the entrance head,in order to make the dust that
from flue to enter the electric field as evenly as possible.
There is deceleration for flow at the interface of trumpet shape,so Some of the larger dust are
easily attached on entrance head and distribution board. Therefore, there is set in
some more viscous electric dust catcher blowing dust with hot air device and
distribution plate hitting equipment(its structure is similar to anode hitting).
3.2.2.2 Head of exit(trumpet of exit)
Exit head is a device that makes purity gas and smoke into flue. Its structure shape is related
air current distribution air distribution. Usually,double channel shape (no open
hole) exit air distribution plate is set on the section between exit head inside and
shell.
3.2.2.3 Coping
The coping is composed the inside and outside coping. Its top crossbeam whose load is
bigger is an important part,support the anode and the cathode. Because high
voltage power supply(Whether high voltage power supply is installed on the top or
on the ground)introduces cathode through top crossbeam,In order to ensure
insulation,the ceramic device should be dry,and there is heating device in the
internal insulator room. There are two kinds of the heating device:the electric
heating device and the electric heating with hot air heating.

4.2.2.8 Porcelain device whose temperature is usually in the setting above the
temperature of gas dew point around 15-25 ℃. Tubular electric heater is
instructed to open when below limit temperature,instructed to take Off when
above the maximum temperature. It makes alarm below the temperature of dew
point. Electrically controlled parts should be adjusted according to this request.
4.2.2.9 Adjust the electric control line,according to hitting system and discharged dust
system.
4.2.2.10 The methods about electric dust catcher,Low-voltage and high voltage control
circuit testing,no-load electricity pressor test,Cold smokeless electric load test,thermal load
entire machine debugging etc, reference the appendix of "electric dust catcher
installation manual", or "electric manual" of electrical equipment factory.
its running and open the manhole door to cool down until the temperature is 40℃
or bellow.
5.1.7 All the manhole doors must be locked up by safety locks, for the UNIT is in negative
pressure condition when it runs. If the manhole door is open, whose who come
close to it may be hurt by inhaling into the electric field, even a electric shock
accident may happen.
5.1.8 When there is a necessity for the operator to go into electric field after the UNIT stop
running, he should wear safety helmet and hermetically-sealed protective clothes,
shoes, gloves, and so on.
5.1.9 Once finishing your work, wash your body and protective work clothes on time,
otherwise the dust bring from the work place will cause infection.
5.1.10 When going into the inner of UNIT, put your gas mask if it is too dusty.
5.2 Security inspection on equipment
5.2.1 Inspect the earth wire and the splice regularly, seeing whether the electrical
conductivity and other protectors are in good conditions.
5.2.2 Inspect whether all the relay cases and the switch boxes are locked with safety.
Remember that the lock is unlocked by the professional only.
5.2.3 The alternating voltage of the hand lamp used in the UNIT can not excess 12V.
5.3 Safety consideration in the current transformer inspection
5.3.1 Make sure the electricity of the transformer has cut off; the safety switch is in
turnoff condition and has been looked with safety.
5.3.2 Inspect all the switches on the control panel, make sure they are in turnoff
condition.
5.3.3 Hang a well-marked alarm board with” INSPECTING” ahead of the control panel,
5.3.4 Inspect whether the grounding of the earth wire is in good condition.
5.3.5 Use the provided grounding device to earth the high-voltage component of the
rectifier.
5.3. 6 Finishing all the inspection according to the procedures above, then overhaul the
vertoro.
5.4 Safety regulations on overhauling in the UNIT
5.4.1 Hang a well-marked alarm board with” working in the electric field” ahead of the
control screen,
5.4.2 No less than 2 troubleshooters when inspecting inner parts, one of them is in charge of
warding. Not only troubleshooters should be familiar with the structure of the
UNIT and all the components’ functions, but also fully understand the character of
smoke and dust, knowing the possible harm they do and the effective safeguard one
can take.
5.4.3 To go into the inner of the UNIT after it stops running, one should comply with the
guidelines below:
a. Strictly comply with the relevant regulation of rule 5.1
b. Strictly comply with the relevant procedure of rule 5.3
c. Turn off safety switches of all the vibrating motors and the ash valves motors, lock
with safety.
d. Turn off the isolating switch on the edge of high voltage silicoformer, and lock it
with safety. Use the provided grounding device to earth the discharge system.
e. Make sure the switches of the draft blower and the induced draft blower are in the
turnoff condition, lock them with safety.
f. Close the entrance/exit flue damper and turn off the damper electric manipulator,
lock it with safety.
g. Before going into the electric field of the UNIT, open all the manhole doors (access
doors) to cool down until the temperature is 40℃ or bellow.
To accelerate cooling, open the exit flue damper and turn on the induced draft
blower (make sure the manhole door is in open position in case of a sudden shut).
h. Prevent from burning, for the cooling extent of components may be different.
i. After going into the electric field, firstly make sure whether there is a dust
accumulation with hidden trouble; if it exists, try to clean it to avoid accident, and
find the cause.
j. Check the amount of the tools brought in the electric field when finish overhauling.
No tool can be left, or the electric field’s function will be affected.
6.2.4 Pay attention to high voltage and organized by the principal outside the manhole door
before going into the electric field to observe the corona flashover condition.
6.2.5 Log the value of voltage and current, including the elementary and the sub. When
carry through commissioning test run, pay attention to the plant capacity and the
value of voltage and current, for the no-load current is relate to the temporal
humidity and the temporal temperature.
6.2.6 After finishing Commissioning test run, analyze and eliminate the entire malfunction
in the test run.
6.2.7 Draw voltage characteristic curves for all the electric fields.
Mark the voltage value of the fixed current flux to a squared paper, from the lowest
value in the running till the maximum rating; then link these points to create a
curve. The characteristic curve is a reference for inspecting the installation quality
and the voltage characteristic of no-load current after every overhauling.
6.2.8 Heat the electric field by venting with gas. Supply electricity with high voltage to the
electric field after the temperature of the electric field is higher than the dew point
of the gas (use the electrically heated cannular insulator to heat firstly until the
temperature rise in a stated range), observe the going of the automatic controlled
system of the voltage and the current. Comparing with the no-load situation, the
current and the voltage may descend slightly. To deal with such situation, operator
can adjust the spark frequency according to circumstances; find the optimal spark
frequency in practice.
6.2.9 Log the value of the loaded voltage and the loaded current, including the elementary
and the sub.
6.2.10 Draw characteristic curve of the loaded voltage in the same way.
6.2.11 Again inspect the air leak condition of the enclosure, the inspection door and other
components.
6.2.12 Shut down (detailed procedures refer to rule7.5)
6.2.13 Inspect the inner of the insulating porcelain bushing, the electrically porcelain shaft
and both sides of the air flow distribution panel, seeing if there is damage or dust
accumulation which accumulated fleetly.
6.2.14 Eliminate the entire malfunction in the loaded test run.
7.1 Operators are required to be a professional, well understand its features, operating
requirement and knowledge of its security and maintenance, and be familiar with
the manual. A test should be hold to judge whether a man is qualified to be an
operator.
7.2 It is required a thoroughly inspecting to the equipment and to record the checking result
with the confirmed signature of the principal on spot before the auto start.
7.3 Steps for driving
7.3.Before driving, make sure that 1inspecting is over, all the safety precautions are fulfilled,
and all stuff fills his shoes.
7.3.2 All the heater should be startup 8 hours in advance to ensure all the parts are dry and
avoiding any damages caused from creepage. The current of each heating system is
needed to be checked before start.
7.3.3 Disclose the baffles and ventilation door on the in-flues out-flues(except the
in-out-flues)
7.3.4 Start the induced draft fan
7.3.5 Aerate the smoke through the electric field to warm-up for removing the humidity in
the inner mechanisms of the duster, time depending on the temperature and the
humidity of the air in the electric field, generally when the temperature of the air
releasing from the end field reaches the smoke dew point. At this moment, please
notice to set free the vapor in the insulated room. If the temperature of the end
smoke is lower than the dew point, the high-pressured-silicon transformer should
not be used.
7.3.6 Start the system of dust-ejecting
7.3.7 Start all the vibrating machine.
7.3.8 Operate all the functions of low-pressure system, make its functions of alarming,
security chain, temperature detecting and controlling, dust inspecting and
transmitting be in a state of antocontroling.
7.3.9 To prevent the oil and dust mixture from adhering the electrode board and the
electrode line and influencing the later function, the switch of the electric dust
catcher must be turned on only after the boiler’s normal burning, the withdrawing
of the oil cabin and its steady working, then press the start key, active all the
functions of high-pressure system, power pressure in static electric field rise to the
point of flashover, then the whole electric field will run.
7.3.10 Start of the system of sirocco blowing and becoming: Electronically heating for 5
minutes in advance, then start the fan. Heating should not be stopped until the fan
is turned off.
7.4 Process of operation
7.4.1 There should be enough personnel on duty in the control room to inspect the running
state of the unit. Once there is abnormity, the cause should be found out and the
failure should be eliminated. As least twice checking to all the parts are required
besides the duty in control room.
7.4.2 The following aspects should attach special attention during inspecting:
a. Check whether the power supply is in order, a relative lower power may damage
the heater
b. Check if all the indicator light and alarming control is all right
c. Check the current and power indicated by the rectifier and make sure they are in
work
d. Check whether there is any failure within the dust eliminating system
e. Inspect make sure that the vibrating axis is running, and the hitting of hammer
head is in order (this can be check out through listening in the outside.
7.4.3 Look into the lighting rate , vibration and dust eliminating of every electric field, and
adjust its operation to the best state until the dust can be removed efficiently.
7.4.4 Carefully note down its operating state of every shift, especially the record of pressure
and current should be carefully noted( generally, every two hours need to record
once)
7.5 Steps to stop the operation of the unit
7.5.1 Close down temporarily
a. Turn off all the fans, cut off the smoke in the flue, and wait for 3-5 minutes.
b. Cut off the high power supply by following the order of the electric field, and
lock the control tank of it.
c. Close all the ventilation doors for smoke in and out
d. Make the vibrating system and heating system keep on working during the
process of closeting down temporarily
e. People entering to the electric field to check and repair any parts should ware
exposure suit and equipped with lighting, meanwhile, it is required that the
vibration should be stopped and the inner temperature should be below 40℃.
7.5.2 Regular operation of close down
a. Finish step a, b and c above first
b. Cut off the high pressure of all isolating switch locks of the electric fields
c. Shut off all the heating systems, temperature detecting systems and dust
controlling systems.
d.Vibrating system and dust eliminating system should continue its working when
the power supply is switched off until all the dust is removed from the dust
catcher.
e.Open the incoming little doors to low the temperature of the unit to reduce the
danger of being scalded for human and being corroded.
f.Cut off the power supply assembly( power for illumination should not cut off at
this moment)
g.People are allowed to enter the unit of electric dust catcher when the high pressure
parts are grounded and illumination is provided.
h.All the incoming doors should be closed after inspecting
7.6 As for the operation of high pressure and low pressure controlling systems and upper
monitor, please refer to the electric manual provided by the manufacturers of the
facilities for power supply.
To ensure the long-termed and efficient function of the electrical dust catcher up to
par, and the responsibility for the erector to run and maintain the UNIT, functionary
must have four kinds of knowledge and three skills. The former is: knowledge of
structure, principle, capability and function. The later is operation, maintenance
and exception handles. Once the UNIT stops working, check it, clean the electric
field, emend the changeable electrode board and line, scrub the insulating
porcelains, and measure the ground resistance to remove the malfunction during its
working. Besides, repair the UNIT every year, including replacing the broken
apparatus etc., every three years (or according to the repairing schedule of the
electrical factory), make a big repair, clean roundly, adjust and replace the
accessory broken or influencing the capability, and replace the lubricant
periodically.
8.1 Routine check and maintenance
8.1.1 Enter the electric field, and examine begrime, and then clean it up.
8.1.2 Check the lateral walls, doors and the insulators on the coping etc. to see if there is air
leak, dew, air hardening and corruption or begrime, and remove them.
8.1.3 Check the temperatures of rotational electrical machinery, the oleic surface in the
retarded machinery and see if the vibrant axis is locked, the hammerhead rotates
neatly and falls off, the contacting position is right, then put the lubricant on the
electrical machinery according to the product request.
8.1.4 Sometimes the air current places where the smoke flows slower may have begrime and
jam, check and sweep up manually.
8.1.5 Check the cathode frame and the camber of the electrode line and begrime situation.
8.1.6 Check the anode board and the camber of the vibrant axis and begrime situation.
8.1.7 Use the insulating porcelain sheath to support and insulate the discharge system. When
working, a layer of dust and humidity usually aggrades on the surface of the sheath,
which leads the surface high tension punctures, and then crack the insulator.
Therefore, keep the sheath clean and scrub it when every turning-off, use the
electric torch to examine carefully to see if there is crack.
8.1.8 Check the electric porcelain vibrant axis of the discharge pole to see if there is crack
and clean.
8.1.9 Check the high-pressured-silicon transformer(according to the instruction), the
contacting switch, the relay, the heater, the thermo detector and thermo controller,
the ground connection function normally, and remove the exceptions.
8.2 Common exception analyses
8.2.1 Rupture of the cathode line
When the cathode line works in a terrible environment, it may rupture then may
result in the short circuit, which forces the entire electric field close and miss
dusting.
8.2.2 Failure to vibrate
If the vibrant structure fails to work, dust aggrades on the discharge pole and the
dust collecting board, which declines the current circulation, increases the spark,
closes the power supply and leads to the short circuit. The reasons of this may be
the failure of electric, or of the machine, check carefully and repair.
8.2.3 Rupture of the insulator
The insulator includes supporting porcelain sheath, porcelain vibrant axis and puncture
sheath etc. When starting up the boiler, the retrofire time is too long or when the
electric heater is broken and can’t keep the temperature normally, the dust and
humidity aggrades on the surface of the insulator, then the surface insulating
resistance decreases. When these happen, it’s very easy to puncture under high
pressure, and meanwhile, the insulator may rupture for heating imbalance, at this
moment, exchange it.
8.2.4 Short circuit because of the dust accumulation in the dust board and the electric field
Dust heavy accumulation in the electric field usually causes by exception of the dust board or
the dust transporting system. With the broken heater and its temperature keeping
failure, dust falling into the dust board adheres and bridges, or with the malfunction
of the dust transporting system, dust can’t eliminate and form a thick layer in the
dust board, when it reaches the electrode, short circuit forms.
8.2.5 The exception handles of high-pressured-silicon transformer refer to the electric
coordinated factory instruction.
8.3 analysis and disposals toward integral failures

8.4 The methods of replacing the broken insulating porcelain sheath (see figure 1)
8.4.1 Dismantlement
a. dismantle the coping of the insulating room;
b. measure the distance from the boom to the coping of the insulating room and the inner
walls a. b. c. with a ruler, and note down (or note down on the walls of the insulating room);
c. put in the take-up and make it through the bush and hook on to the bracket on the
cathode frame;
d. lift up the cathode frame with the nut in the take-up, loose the insulating porcelain
sheath, demount the nut in the boom and dismantle the washer then the insulating porcelain
sheath.
8.4.2 Installation
a. check and clean the surface of the nether and top washers;
b. check the hermetic materials on the top and bottom of the insulating porcelain sheath
to see if they are in good condition and locate properly;
c. install the supporting insulating porcelain sheath in contrary to the process of
dismantlement;
d. check the fluctuant situation of the boom again, adjust the height and direction of the
boom the same as its undismantlement.
8.5 The methods of replacing the broken insulating porcelain axis (see figure 2):
8.5.1 Check the high-pressured circuit turned off, the electric dust collector connected ground,
the safety switch of the discharge pole turned off.
8.5.2 Open the door of the insulating porcelain axis.
8.5.3 Take off the triton fastening the axis box.
8.5.4 Put in the porcelain axis take-up through the electrical machinery bracket hole and
place the calipers around the axis under the fork.
8.5.5 Step up the axis and the axis box, use the take-up to support the lever of the machinery
bracket, (prevent the porcelain axis and its upside accessories from falling down the UNIT).
8.5.6 Take off old porcelain axis and install a new one.
8.5.7 Lower the axis and the axis box, and match the connecting leg of the rotational axis
with the connecting sleeve.
8.5.8 Check the top of the porcelain axis connecting sleeve to see if it is level with indicator
line of the rotational axis.
8.5.9 Tighten the axis with the bolts.
8.5.10 Test the discharge system.
8.5.11 Close the check-up door.
9、Special facilities
Generally repair extensively when it works after more than 3 years, take 5-15days to have
it done. The processes include not only the above processes, but also checking if there are
broken and rubiginous parts, solder and replace according to the situation. Clean up the
soldering residue and burrs. Check the oleic position in the silicon transformer. If it is
necessary to supplement the usable transformer oil, refer the silicon transformer instruction.
