Class Test V, Year 2021; Semester: Fall
Course: PHY 2105; Title: Physics
Marks: 10; Section: C; Time: 30 minutes

1. Draw the electric field lines from a (i) positive charged sheet (ii) negative charged wire
and (iii) negative point charge. Which are uniform and nonuniform electric fields among
them? [2.0]

2. Two charges q1= (last two digits of your ID)C and q2 =– (sum of last two digits of
your ID)C are placed at x=3.0cm and y= 4.0cm from the origin respectively. Draw
the charge arrangement. Find the resultant electric field and it’s direction at the
origin. [2.5]

3. An electric dipole of charges ±q= (last two digits of your ID)C separated by a
distance 5 mm, is placed at an angle of 45o to a uniform field of 20N/C. Find the (i)
magnitude and direction of the force acting on each charge. (ii) Torque exerted by
the field, [3]

4. Two particles are placed at x axis: particle 1 of charge -2.0 C at x =6.0 cm, particle 2 of
charge +2.0 C at x = 21.0 cm. Midpoint between the particles, what is their net electric
field and direction? [2.5]
