The goldfish also known as three-tailed, golden carp or golden carp, is the
domestic version of the Chinese river carp, a species of freshwater fish in the
family Cyprinidae. It began to breed in captivity about 2000 years ago, being
one of the oldest domestic fish species and is currently the leader of aquarium
in cold and fresh water. Captive breeding, as in any species, involves the
animal changing its way of life.
