2. Meta-cognitive Strategy
Hedge (2000:78) states “meta-cognitive strategies involve planning for
learning, thinking about learning and how to make it effective, self-monitoring during
learning and evaluation of how successful learning has been after working on
language in some ways. Below are some examples of implementation of these
strategies :
a. Students try to correct themselves when they feel that they are not using the
correct form while speaking.
b. Students do evaluation related their weakness and strengths in speaking
English.
3. Socio-affective Strategy.
According to Oxford (1990) “socio-effective strategies are concerned with the
learners’ emotional requirements such as confidence, while social strategies lead
to increase interaction with the target language. Below are some examples of
implementation of this strategies are:
a. Students speak english outside the classroom
b. Students asked teacher, classmates or roommate for correction of error in
their speaking. Commonly student asks the students about grammatical,
pronunciation and diction.
c. Students talk and share ideas about language learning problem and
effective speaking strategies with their teacher and classmates.
4. Communication Strategy.
These strategies are commonly strategies that always happen in daily
conversation. Students use physical motions when they can’t think of the word while
speaking in English such as gesture to indicate the meaning.
So, we can conclude there are many steps to improve our English speaking.
We just need to follow it to make us good in speaking.
