A. POST-SECONDARY PLANS
a. What school are you planning on attending?
The reason I chose this school is that my family is immigrating to the United States, and we are planning
to live in California. But the main reason for choosing this university is because there are the programs
that I wanted to apply to in this school, and the major of Bioengineering is the top in the States. I really
like this university.
At first, I will apply Bioengineering, and after I will apply to medical for my second degree. That can
connect to my future career to be a medical person and complete my smart goal. I’ll continue working
on my plan.

7. What will be your 2 biggest expenses next year besides tuition and other expenses related to
schooling?
8. Is there an expense that you are willing to sacrifice in order to save more money? Why or why not?
Explain.
Yes, if I really have to save money, I will sacrifice some expenses. The reason is I am taking money
from my family. I’m willing to save money for my family. What I will do is to save some money from
Entertainment or some clothing fees. If I really start working, I won’t need to worry about sacrificing
expenses.
9. A student loan offered by the government may be a viable option for you. Visit the National Student
Loans Service Centre at https://www.csnpe-nslsc.canada.ca/en/stages-of-a-loan. Answer the
following questions:
While you are in school, you are not required to make any payments.
b. Do you have to pay interest on the loan while you are in school?
Your loan is interest-free during this time. It is important to confirm your enrolment every
semester or year that you are in study to maintain your interest-free status.
c. When do you have to start paying back the loan (how long is the grace period after graduation
from post-secondary)? Does interest accrue during this grace period?
After your Period of Study End Date, after six months of the non-repayment period, you have to
start paying the loan.
You do not have to make payments while your loan is in the six-month non-repayment period.
However, depending on your loan type, interest may begin to accrue. In BC, you don’t need to
pay interest on the loan during the non-repayment period.
d. Is it beneficial to pay off the loan within the grace period if you are financially able to do so?
Explain.
It will be very beneficial to pay all the loans within the grace period because it will make your life
easier.
The reason is that you will be building a family, and the credit status will increase if you soon pay
back all your loans.
10. Another option for many students is getting a student line of credit, which is offered by banks for
students to help pay for expenses related to post-secondary education. However, while in school,
students are responsible for making interest only payments and the line of credit must be paid back
with interest after the student graduates.
TD Prime Rate is the variable annual interest rate published by TD from time to time as TD Prime
Rate and is the interest rate.
b. What is the TD interest rate for undergraduate studies? (Hint: the interest rate is equal to the
prime rate plus an additional rate)
For an Undergraduate program, the interest rate is the TD Prime Rate + 1.00%.
After finished school, you have up to 2 years before you need to start repaying the principal
amount. In the meantime, you have full access to your credit line.
d. What are the 4 things you need to provide when applying for a Royal Credit Line for students?
An estimate of your education costs (including tuition, supplies, fees, accommodations, food, travel,
etc.)
f. If you have a $10,000 line of credit but only borrow $2000, do you pay interest on the full
amount ($10,000) or just the amount borrowed ($2000)?
You only pay interest on what you borrow, with no annual or monthly fees. So, you only have to
pay the interest amount you had borrowed ($2000).
g. After comparing government student loans and student lines of credit. Which one would be the
better option for you and explain why?
The benefit of Student Lines of Credit is that interest rates are typically lower than government
student loans and you only have to pay back the interest rates while you're working towards
graduation. The line of credit is a little more flexible. The student can borrow only what they
need and make payments in any amount of time. After graduation, each bank offers a grace
period in which you will continue only paying back the interest rates. So, I will choose the
student line of credit.
