Your SMART goal MUST relate to post-graduation/career plans or a passion or interest. You must choose
something that you can accomplish by the end of the semester to showcase in your Capstone presentation.
Your smart goal CANNOT be a given (e.g. get good grades, apply to post-secondary). It must be something
you have never done, and you are NOT doing for credit in a class.
Remember that your goal must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. You also need to be
able to provide evidence of all steps you took to accomplish the goal and present it at the Capstone
Presentation. Refer to the “Intro to Capstone and SMART goal” video for examples and ideas. Submit this
digitally on Teams and on paper to the Career Education area in Student Services (A233).
1. VERIFY THAT YOUR GOAL IS A SMART GOAL
Specific: What exactly will you accomplish? E.g. I would like to learn basic Japanese.
When I was still a kid, I loved to help people that were in trouble. It was a dream for me to learn Adult – Child
Infront CPR, AED and First Aid. So, my goal is to learn Adult – Child Infront CPR, AED, and First Aid. I wish I can
help more people with this skill and contribute to society.
Measurable: How will you know when you have reached this goal? E.g I will track my progress by using the
Duolingo app and feel confident having basic conversations in Japanese.
I have ordered an online class to learn all the emergency knowledge that I might use in the future, and I will do
all the exams and courses on the website. I’ll make sure that I will pass all the courses, exams and get the
certification card.
Achievable: Is achieving this goal realistic with effort and commitment? Do you have the resources to achieve
this goal? If not, how will you get them? Write down all steps below that you will need to achieve this goal
under the Action Plan heading. E.g. 1. I will download the free app Duolingo on to my phone. 2. I will make a
schedule to remind me to practice etc.
1. I will be using the website “simplecpr.com” on my laptop.
2. I will be using five weeks to finish all the lessons and exams.
3. In all progress, I will keep practicing all the knowledge.
4. I will encourage and push myself to get the certification card for this emergency lesson.
ACTION PLAN. HERE ARE THE STEPS I WILL NEED TO TAKE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL BY JUNE 3:
