The quality index Gs has to be equal to or greater than 1,65, The quality index is defined by GR-475 Where : Ry: is tho spocificd combinod M4+B strength is the avorege value obtained on the sample of 15 insulators my a is the standard deviation for the 15 insulators tested. S shall be computed according to para 8.3.4 of ANSI 6-29.2/1977 4.1.9. Cotter key test The test shall be made in accordance with para 8.2.9 of ANSI C~29,2/1977 They are made on’insulators taken from each lot. For the purpose of this specification the number of insulators per lot shell not be greater than 5.000 pieces. Quality conformance tests shall be made.as follows + 4.2.1. Visual _and Dimensional tests The tests shall be made in accordance with para 8.3.1 of ANSI C~29.2/1977 4.2.2. Impact test The test shall be made in accordance with pera 8.2.8 of ANSI C-29.2/1977 4.2.3. Porosity test (for porcelain ‘insulators only) The test shall be made in accordance with pare $.3.2 of ANSI ¢-29.2/1977 Phe porosity tost shall be carried out on specimens taken out of 30 sinulators-destroyed in other tests. At least 5 specimens shall be. taken from cach insulator and fro Several parts ‘thereof. 4.2.4. Mechanical performance test ‘The test shall be wade in accordance with tho I9C Report 575 mentioned in para 4.1.8 of this specification, The following characteristics are defined : - The concluding stage of the combined M+Z failing load test shall be made in accordance with AliSI ¢-29.1/1976 = 15 insulators shall be tested ~The tensile load, ecual to 60:5 of the specified Nef foiling load, shall bé applied and imediately removed, 6 times in succession. GR-47S 4.2.5. 42.6. Tas test shall be made in accordance with para 8,3.5 of ANSI ¢-29,2/1977 4.3. Routine tests Routine tests shall be made on each insulator with the following succession: 4.3.1. Cold-to-hot_theraal shock te The test shall be made in accordance with para§.4.1. of ANSI ¢-29.2/1977 st: (For toughened glass insulators only) 4.3.2. Hot-to-cold thermal shock test: (For toughened glass insulators only) The test shall be made in accordance with para 8.4.2 of ANSI G-29.2/1977 43.3. 434s 5. Inspect 5.1, Tho tests shell be made at Supplier s expenses, and Supplier shall furnish ell tests spseimens, apparatus and instrummta required for this purpose, Purchaser reserves the right to witness any er all tests, 5.2, Purchaser may, at his option and expences, select 2 suitable nunber of the insuletor parts, sholls.or unite from any lots furnished by Supplier under these specifications to be sént to any testing laboratory which Purchaser tay designate for verification of tests or characteristiés and/se for such additional investigation and test as Purchaser may desire. 6. Packing and Shipping > 6.1, Insulators shall be so packed in wooden cases ae to prevent injury to them during transportation and handling. §.2, Each container shall be legibly and durably marked with-the number of units, gross eight, the Purchase order nunbor, the manufacturer's serial nuber (if any) and all shipping narks. The above marking shall be pritend cn a weather-proof plate, fixed on twe-opposite sidss of the nase, / GR-47S 7 7.1, If fog type suspension insulators should be offered, information should be furnished proving the satisfactory behaviour of tho insulators on distribution networks under conditions of polluted atmosphere. Specially low-frequoncy voltage withstand - salt deposit density (gr/cm' y curves or minisum low-frequency flashover voltage - galt deposit density (gr/em2) curves Shall be subsitted. For coxparison reasons, the sane curves for nornal type insulators must be also shown, ished with Proposals 7.2,Supplier shall precisely describe all essential fedtures of design, inclua- ing sethod of assembly of shells and netal parte, whether by conent or alloy, nusber of shells per insulator, the asnmer in which mechanical stresees are transmitted through shells to adjacent parts; provision for meeting expansion stresses; and any special design or arrangeuent detail employed to increase insulator life under service conditions. 7.3.Supplier shall also furnish’ a scale drewing showing in cross-section, for each insulator unit, all essential shapes, dimensions with their tole~ rances. and protective features to, increase servico life. Seller is also Foquested to furnish, if it is asked, a sample of offered insulator 7.4. The supplier shall submit inforsstion for the behevior of the insulators in aging. Specially, information shall be furnished on possible loss of electronechanical strengti, in relation with the tino, Such information nay be resuned either by experiemental research or by actual data of the Dchoviour cf the insulators on the networks, a 7.5Supplier shall fill in the attached ANNEX "BY and specify the offered characteristics in case of diserepansies, GR-475 ak/ee/5.5.81 PUBLIC POVBR CORPORATION SPRCIFICAPION GR - 478 ANNEX "At Insulator type, Designation i 2, Leakage distance 81/4" ni Ye 3.
