1. INTRODUCTION:

There has been a shift in universal trend from synthetic to herbal medicine recently. It is ancient
wisdom that plants have therapeutic value and are used to treat various diseases since Neanderthal
age. All ancient civilizations in the world are known to use plants for medicinal purposes. Ayurveda
and traditional Chinese medicines are well known to the world for their natural ingredients and
multiple benefits. Nature has bestowed our country with an enormous wealth of medicinal plants;
therefore India has often been referred to as the Medicinal Garden of the world. Today, people around
the globe are giving preference to alternative medicines such as ayurveda, naturopathy, homeopathy
and herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is cost effective and less expensive than the medicines bought
from an allopathic pharmacy. Increasing realization of the side effects of allopathic medicines,
coupled with the growing awareness about the medicinal benefits as well as therapeutic effect of
herbal products is pushing up the demand for herbal extracts, dietary supplement sand herbal-based
beauty aids worldwide. Herbal extraction and processing is very vast field. Some of the known
projects are, rose plantation, cultivation & rose oil extraction plantation, cultivation of medicinal plant

The Indian Medicinal Plant Extract Market is witnessing an astonishing growth, as there has been a
shift in universal trend from synthetic to herbal medicine. India is a virtual treasure trove of plant
species, and has one of the world’s richest medicinal plant heritages. Medicinal Plants are highly
esteemed all over the world as a rich source of therapeutic agents for the prevention of diseases and
ailments. Owing to its wide range of medicinal uses, the Indian Medicinal Plant Extract market is
expected to grow at a CAGR of around 22% during 2017-2022. As a result, of increased investments
as well as significant demand of medicinal extract in internationals markets, there lies immense
opportunity for new and existing players to tap the fast growing market which would garner huge
revenue.

In the latest research study “Indian Medicinal Plant Extract Market Outlook 2022”, RNCOS’ analysts
have conducted a segmented research on the Indian Medicinal Plant Extract industry, and have
interpreted the key market trends & developments that clearly highlight the areas offering promising
possibilities for industries to boost their growth. Indian Medicinal Plant Extract market is rapidly
growing over the years owing to factors like shift in consumers demand towards herbal and natural
product, various schemes launched by government, key investment & expansions being made in the
Indian medicinal plant extract industry, among others.

5. MARKET POTENTIAL AND MARKETING ISSUES, IF ANY:

The annual turnover of the Indian herbal medicinal industry is about Rs. 7,500 crore as against the
pharmaceutical industry’s turnover of Rs. 14,500 crores with a growth rate of more than 15 percent.
As per study commissioned by the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM),
the Indian herbal industry is projected to double to Rs.18,000 crore by 2018, from the current 7,500
core business. India has a vast and rich resource of herbal raw materials and it can create a niche for
itself in the global herbal market if the domestic industry produced quality products of international
standards. The apex chamber estimates global herbal industry to grow to Rs 90,000 crore by 2018,
more than double from the current level of Rs 30,000 crore. Small-scale players in the sector are
likely to witness brighter times ahead. India could make its presence felt in the world herbal market
through quality products in view of growing bias towards herbal medicines, dietary supplements and
skin and beauty aids because public perception of herbal products is a kin to organic food products.
The Indian market can be divided into two categories. One that covers raw material needed by the
industries and direct consumption for household remedies, while second category that comprises
ready to use finished medicines, health supplements etc. There is a strong demand for raw stock of
amla, isabgol, henna, ashwagandha and aloevera, and these materials are used in a big way in
preparing ayurvedic formulations. The demand for plant based medicines, health products,
pharmaceuticals, food supplement, cosmetics etc are increasing in both developing and developed
countries, due to the growing recognition that the natural products are non-toxic, have less side effects
and easily available at affordable prices. India has lot of potential for producing world class herbal
medicines. For the Entrepreneurship it is one of the areas of great opportunity & potential. The Indian
herbal Industry is on a roll and poised to grow in the coming years owing to its high demands for
herbal products.

6. RAW MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Raw material requirements for selected herbal extracts are given below

Amla for Amla oil, Amla Fruit, Aloe Vera Generally, three leaves provide one kg. of Aloe vera gel.
Supply of Aloe Vera Leaves Aloe Vera is extensively cultivated. There is no particular constraint in
expanding the area of cultivation of Aloe Vera to meet the projected increase in the demand.
Therefore, the supply scenario of Aloe Vera Plant material is likely to remain comfortable. Guggul
700 to 900 Kg are produced per hectare of Guggul gum plantation. Gum is dried in shade and stored.
Guggul is cultivated in Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Vetiver For 1.5 kg of Vetiver oil 100 Kg
Vetiver is required. The herbs are grown all over India in different climatic and seasonal conditions.
The raw materials is available as Leaves, Stems, Barks, roots, Flowers, Seeds, Kernels and Shells.
Depending on the physical properties, including shape and size one has to select the equipments.

7. MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

The manufacturing process for various herbal extracts depend upon the nature of the individual herbs
and the specific process requirements. The various unit operations are used in the extraction of herbs
such as extractors, dryers pulverisers etc. Observance of specific and stipulated conditions for the
production of herbal extracts are necessary to ensure that there would not be any deterioration in
product quality or stability. Take care in Procurement: Identification a must, before purchasing or
growing fresh/dried herbs. Discriminate look a likes, identical species and adulterated herbs. Cleaning
and Drying of plant material; to be specific to species as well as end products. Freeze drying, Spray
drying and Flash drying are important methods Sun drying is usually the common initial step. Storage
in controlled atmosphere in an aseptic lay out is a must to maintain keeping quality in terms of colour,
actives and fragrance. Temperature, air flow and humidity are closely monitored. Pulverisation and
Grinding media & temperature can play a vital role in quality of final product. Sifting through various
mesh sizes for different end use is strictly followed. This directly determines the absorption and
effectiveness of the herb. Plant materials contain microbial contamination which resist most of the
cleaning techniques. Total Sterilization is mainly effected through exposure to Ethylene Oxide and
Gamma radiation. It is a must to automate or semi-automate filling. The gauge and material of the
packing materials should prevent ingress of air and moisture. This avoids oxidation, discolouration or
deterioration. Standard analytical methods are used to determine characteristics. Organoleptic tests
can sometimes determine trace component levels. Chromatographic methods are used for quantitative
analysis. Microbiological Examination and Toxicological tests have to be performed to determine the
safety of the herb. Pesticide Residue and Heavy metals are to be analysed to ensure nil side effects.
Clinical trials or post marketing surveillance ensures that adverse drug interactions are avoided.
Distillation * Hydro-distillation. * Steam distillation * Water-steam distillation * CO2 Supercritical
Extraction * Hydro-diffusion * Molecular Distillation * Spinning Cone Column Distillation.

Social Benefits

The provision of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in school secures a healthy school
environment and protects children from illness and exclusion. Girls are particularly
vulnerable to dropping out of school, partly because many are reluctant to continue their
education when toilets and washing facilities are not private, not safe or simply not available.
When schools have appropriate, gender-separated facilities, an obstacle to attendance is
removed. Thus, having gender segregated toilets in schools particularly matters for girls.
Hygiene in school also supports school nutrition. The simple act of washing hands with soap
before eating the school mid-day meal assists to break disease transmission routes.

5
A clean and healthy school creates a cycle of opportunities:
1. Sanitation and hygiene are investments in school children and the health of future
generations. It helps children realise their full potential and prepares them for a
healthy adult life, which can contribute to the growth of the nation.
2. Hand washing can reduce diarrhoea by more than 30 per cent and Respiratory
infections Incidence by 16 per cent.
3. Better water, sanitation and hygiene in schools provides healthy and secure school
environments that can protect children from illness. A child's memory, executive
function, language and problem-solving skills as well as attention span respond
positively when healthy.
4. Failing to curb the spread of disease threatens children's cognitive development and
allows a recurrent cycle of issued school, poorer school performance and increased
poverty.
5. With gender-segregated toilets, inclusive and accessible facilities, students are assured
of privacy and dignity and children with special needs can attend school. When girls
have access to safe and clean toilets and water at school, they are less likely to miss
school while menstruating.

TREE PLANTING ACTIVITIES

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not
expect to sit

8
Our projects are planned and implemented following a seasonal calendar. The ECB unit of

the College had organized Tree Plantation on 20th June 2018 at Bikaner. The social worker

addressed the volunteers about the role of trees in human life. He also mentioned that we

should take utmost care of environment. The volunteers planted desi trees. These trees

include Neem, Pimple, Banyan Tree, Tamradus Indica etc. Some volunteers were assigned

the task to give water and some were digging to plant trees.

9
The spread of COVID-19 and the havoc it has wreaked across the planet has proven just how

fragile our global systems are. In the face of these challenges, it’s understandable that many

feel helpless. We recently shared how the destruction of our environment is responsible

for pandemics. So here’s how planting trees can guide us through the current crisis, by

helping solve the next one (by that we mean the climate crisis, obvs).
“The 21 March was International Day of the Forests, a United Nations observance day dedicated
to celebrating and raising awareness of the importance of all types of forests. A forest is a mini
version of the world, with its inhabitants living respectfully next to each other. Hopefully, we can
make the world like a forest again as well — and that can happen by planting trees.” —
EcoMatcher
COVID-19 is ravaging the world with no community immune to the effects of the virus. It should
not, however, come as a surprise. It feels as though our planet has needed a wake-up call for
some time, and we’re left wondering if this is it. If there is a silver lining to this situation, it’s that
people are experiencing an awakening and learning how to live their lives a little differently —
change is on the horizon. And we don’t need to wait for the lockdown to be lifted to action that
change, we can do it from our sofas by planning our next sustainability initiative.
Making a positive impact during the coronavirus
It’s unfortunate that we needed the coronavirus to serve as a wake-up call. Still, the
situation is seeing the global community come together in a collective effort to make the world a
better place. Whether that’s by helping at the front lines, helping within your community or

10
helping the planet, it’s all connected. Our connection to the planet relies on us learning how to
coexist with the things around us without destroying them. And a healthier planet equals healthier
communities.

Tree Plantation Activities

These activities were conducted by the Departrment of Master of Business Administration ,
Government Engineering College Bikaner. Supervised under Mr. Naveen Sharma and Mr.
Virender Vyas and authorised by Head of Department Mrs. Richa Yadav in June 2021.

Objective of Activity- To Protect the environment

Tree-planting is the process of transplanting tree seedlings, generally for forestry, land
reclamation, or landscaping purpose. It differs from the transplantation of larger trees in
arboriculture, and from the lower cost but slower and less reliable distribution of tree seeds.

Imporatance of Tree Plantation

Tree plantation is good for the environment. ... Apart from inhaling carbon
dioxide trees also absorb various harmful gases including sulfur dioxide and carbon
monoxide and also filter harmful pollutants from the atmosphere thereby providing us fresher
and cleaner air to breath.

11
Plantations of trees is important as they improve the life and fulfil essential needs of
mankind. During photosynthesis, the trees breakdown food materials and consume carbon
dioxide. Resultantly with the help of sunlight, the trees produce carbohydrates.

GREEN DRIVE
A tree plantation green drive was organized by MBA Students of ECB College of Technical
Education, Karni Nagar Industrial Area, Bikaner on 2 nd October, 2019. The drive was
inaugurated by Dr. Avedhesh Sir and he explained the importance of a clean environment to
the students. The main objective of this drive was to create awareness among the students
about the need to conserve and preserve the environment. Students with all faculty members
and Principal Sir planted saplings in the college premises. Students wrote slogans and gave
message to protect the environment as “CUT THE GREED TO SAVE TREES” “LEND THE
HAND TO SAVE TREES”. The main motto of this green drive is to keep the campus
environment-friendly by planting fast growing trees. It was a learning experience for all the
students.

Benefits of Planting Trees

Most often we plant trees to provide shade and beautify our landscapes. These are great
benefits but trees also provide other less obvious benefits.

Social Benefits

 Trees make life nicer. It has been shown that spending time among trees and green
spaces reduces the amount of stress that we carry around with us in our daily lives.
 Hospital patients have been shown to recover from surgery more quickly when their
hospital room offered a view of trees.
 Children have been shown to retain more of the information taught in schools if they
spend some of their time outdoors in green spaces.
 Trees are often planted as living memorials or reminders of loved ones or to
commemorate significant events in our lives.

Communal Benefits

 Even though you may own the trees on your property your neighbors may benefit
from them as well.
 Through careful planning trees can be an asset to your entire community.
 Tree lined streets have a traffic calming effect, traffic moves more slowly and safely.
 Trees can be placed to screen unwanted views or noise from busy highways.
 Trees can complement the architecture or design of buildings or entire neighborhoods.

Environmental Benefits

 Trees offer many environmental benefits.

 Trees reduce the urban heat island effect through evaporative cooling and reducing
the amount of sunlight that reaches parking lots and buildings. This is especially true
in areas with large impervious surfaces, such as parking lots of stores and industrial
complexes.
 Trees improve our air quality by filtering harmful dust and pollutants such as ozone,
carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide from the air we breathe.
 Trees give off oxygen that we need to breathe.
 Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution
in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding.
 Many species of wildlife depend on trees for habitat. Trees provide food, protection,
and homes for many birds and mammals.

Economic Benefits

 Well placed trees can reduce your cooling costs in the summer by shading the south
and west sides of your home. If deciduous trees are used they will allow the sun to
pass through and warm your home in the winter.
 Evergreen trees on the north side of your home and shrubs around the foundation of
your home can act as a windbreak to reduce the cooling effects of winter winds.

15
 The value of a well landscaped home with mature healthy trees can be as much as
10% higher than a similar home with no or little landscaping. (Topping will reduce
the value of your trees)
 Some indirect economic benefits of trees are that if we reduce the energy we use then
utility companies will have less demand placed on the infrastructure, thus reducing
operating costs which can be passed on to the consumer.

ACTIVTIES PROFORMED
These activities were conducted by the Departrment of Master of Business Administration ,
Government Engineering College Bikaner. Supervised under Mr. Naveen Sharma and Mr.
Virender Vyas and authorised by Head of Department Mrs. Richa Yadav in June 2021.
Objective of Activity- This active is useful for development, knowledge about game and
entertainment for the students.
Game: -Cricket, Chess, Running, Carrom, Badminton.

1 Cricket: - Cricket was introduced to North America via the English colonies as early as the
17th century, and in the 18th century it arrived in other parts of the globe. It arrived in
Australia almost as soon as colonisation began in 1788 and the sport reached New Zealand
and South Africa in the early years of the 19th century. Like every other sport, cricket has
rules and regulations that one must follow to play the gentleman's game. The popularity of
the sport has increased over the years and many countries like China and the USA are
preparing to venture into international competition. Television ratings and stadium attendance
have been increasing and advertisers are willing to heavily invest in cricket.

18
Benefit of cricket
Endurance and stamina
Balance and coordination
Physical fitness
Improving hand-eye coordination.
Team skills
Social skills such as cooperation, communication and learning how to cope with winning and
losing
Social interaction – it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

2 Chess:- Chess is a recreational and competitive board game played between two players. It

is sometimes called Western or international chess to distinguish it from related games such
as xiangqi. The current form of the game emerged in Southern Europe during the second half
of the 15th century after evolving from similar, much older games
of Indian and Persian origin. Today, chess is one of the world's most popular games, played
by millions of people worldwide at home, in clubs, online, by correspondence, and
in tournaments. Chess is an abstract strategy game and involves no hidden information. It is
played on a square chessboard with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. At the
start, each player (one controlling the white pieces, the other controlling the black pieces)
controls sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and
eight pawns. The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is
under immediate attack (in "check") and there is no way for it to escape. There are also
several ways a game can end in a draw. Organized chess arose in the 19th century. Chess
competition today is governed internationally by FIDE (International Chess Federation). The
first universally recognized World Chess Champion, Wilhelm Steinitz, claimed his title in
1886; Magnus Carlsen is the current World Champion. A huge body of chess theory has
developed since the game's inception. Aspects of art are found in chess composition; and
chess in its turn influenced Western culture and art and has connections with other fields such
as mathematics, computer science, and psychology.

Boosts planning skills.
Increases self-awareness.
Protects against dementia.
Helps ADHD
Reduces panic attack symptoms
Benefits for kids
Potential downsides
Takeaway (cognitive benefits)
Intelligence
Empathy
Memory
Planning and problem-solving skills

3 Running:- Running is the way in which people or animals travel quickly on their feet. It is
a method of travelling on land. It is different to walking in that both feet are regularly off the

20
ground at the same time.[1] Different terms are used to refer to running according to
the speed: jogging is slow, and sprinting is running fast.
Running is a popular form of exercise. It is also one of the oldest forms of sport. The exercise
is known to be good for health; it helps breathing and heartbeat, and burns any spare calories.
Running keeps a person fit and active. It also relieves stress. Running makes a person thirsty,
so it is important to drink water when running.
Help to build strong bones, as it is a weight bearing exercise.
Strengthen muscles.
Improve cardiovascular fitness.
Burn plenty of kilojoules.
Help maintain a healthy weight.

4 Carrom:- Carrom or Karom is a game that has long been played throughout India and
South East Asia but the game has become increasingly popular throughout much of the rest
of the world during the last century. There are a huge number of variations in the rules even
though an international regulatory body and several major national bodies exist - even these
have rule variations depending upon the situation. Masters Games has based the following
rules on those from the UK Carrom Club, tailoring them for simplicity where possible.

Benefit of Carrom

Entertains you and exercises your mind. While an online Carrom game requires very little
space even on your mobile, it provides you with equally wholesome entertainment. ...
Allows you to win cash online. ...

21
Enhances your concentration. ...
Makes you disciplined. ...
Helps you connect with like-minded people.

Badminton:- Badminton, court or lawn game played with lightweight rackets and

a shuttlecock. Historically, the shuttlecock (also known as a “bird” or “birdie”) was a
small cork hemisphere with 16 goose feathers attached and weighing about 0.17 ounce (5
grams). These types of shuttles may still be used in modern play, but shuttles made
from synthetic materials are also allowed by the Badminton World Federation. The game is
named for Badminton, the country estate of the dukes of Beaufort
in Gloucestershire, England, where it was first played about 1873. The roots of the sport can
be traced to ancient Greece, China, and India, and it is closely related to the old children’s
game battledore and shuttlecock. Badminton is derived directly from poona, which was
played by British army officers stationed in India in the 1860s. The first unofficial all-
England badminton championships for men were held in 1899, and the first
badminton tournament for women was arranged the next year.

The benefits of team building activities

Over the past few years, we've seen businesses moving away from competitive work
environments to workplaces where collaboration and co-operation between staff is seen as the
key to company-wide success. As part of this change more and more companies are
undertaking regular team building activities. These activities can range from a short,
problem-solving activity to a retreat lasting a couple of days. And whilst some people see
team building as a ‘nice break’ from regular work, they do have a serious purpose: and that is
to develop the skills and knowledge of your staff.
INCREASE MOTIVATION
Team building can help increase employee motivation and nurture a successful company
culture in a number of ways. When a group of employees successfully complete a team
building activity it creates momentum and makes them feel good about themselves - it
increases employees’ confidence in their, and their team’s, ability and it also shows

23
employees that the organisation is willing to invest in them.

IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY
Improving productivity is one of the most common goals of team building activities. Take the
opportunity to identify ways to improve the 'three Ps' that can affect productivity:
Policies
Processes
Procedures
By encouraging employees to learn to work together more effectively and reduce duplication
of effort, your employees can work more efficiently.

INCREASED COLLABORATION
One of the most important benefits of a properly planned team building activity is greater
collaboration between employees. Collaboration is about knowing who has what knowledge
(or can answer to a question), trusting them and their experience and being able to get access
to that person when you need it. By creating activities that people enjoy and can experience
as a group, employees can build relationships and develop networks of contacts outside their
day-to-day role that will help them in the future.
ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY
To have a successful business based on creativity and innovation you need to employ
different people with diverse perspectives and expertise in order to “cross-pollinate” the
organisation with fresh ideas. Out-of-the-ordinary team building tasks give employees
permission to use their imagination to come up with creative solutions, and they send the
message that creativity in the workplace, and bouncing ideas off each other, is welcome.

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
Team building can also be used to provide recognition to employees by highlighting the work
specific employees are doing and the behaviours that have lead to the recipient receiving the
recognition. By incorporating recognition into the team building you can send a strong
message to every attendee about your company values and what that means to the success of
the organisation.

IMPROVED COMMUNICATION
Perhaps the key benefit of a properly planned team building activity is improved
communication between employees. Enjoyable, fun activities enable employees to get to
know each other, create a better understanding of each other and break down walls of
mistrust by encouraging people to focus on what they have in common rather than their
differences.

24
Team building activities can be a powerful way to develop collaboration and trust, improve
motivation, nurture strengths, and address weaknesses. However, they need to be have a real
purpose and be properly planned in order to make a genuine impact, rather than just
providing ‘a nice day out of the office’.

CONNECT REMOTE TEAMS

Remote team building has the power to build stronger relationships which will in turn
improve productivity, retention, engagement and morale, and shouldn’t be overlooked. Team
building is a great excuse to pull members of teams together who may not always work
closely during their day-to-day responsibilities.
If you have a number of employees split across multiple locations, or a team of remote
workers, taking the time to allow them to build their relationships within the team and outside
of the project deliverables can have a huge impact on how well they work together going
forward. This also allows for team members who may be quite isolated to feel closer to the
wider team and help improve their connection to the business and their peers.

25
Yoga
If you thought that yoga was all about bending and twisting your body in odd shapes, it's time
to rethink. Yoga is much more. In very simple words, giving care to your body, mind and
breath is yoga. Derived from the Sankrit word ‘yuj’ which means ‘to unite or integrate’, yoga
is a 5,000-year-old Indian body of knowledge. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with
the mind and breath through the means of various breathing exercises, yoga poses
(asanas) and meditation.

Yoga is a great way to work on your flexibility and strength. Just about everyone can do it, too --
it's not just for people who can touch their toes or want to meditate. Some types of yoga are about
relaxation. In others, you move more. Most types focus on learning poses, called asanas. They
also usually include attention to breathing.

Less Stress, More Calm

You may feel less stressed and more relaxed after doing some yoga.
Some yoga styles use meditation techniques that help calm the mind. Focusing on your
breathing during yoga can do that, too.

Good for Your Heart

Yoga has long been known to lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate. A slower heart
rate can benefit people with high blood pressure or heart disease, and people who've had a
stroke.
Yoga has also been linked to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and better immune
system function.

Suryanamaskar :- Hindus have a tradition of paying regards to Sun as god early in the
morning by offering them water ritual. Sun has been a source of both spirituality and vitality
on the Earth since time immemorial. Its significance can be traced from Mayan, Egyptian,
Aztec, Tibetan, and Indian civilizations to the ones that emerged later. Spirituality apart, there
is also a logical reason behind the sun’s prominence.
Scientifically, the sun radiates energy to the earth in the form of heat and sunlight – without
which life couldn’t have sustained here. Sparing just 10 minutes for yourself every day can
have dramatic changes in various aspects of your life. Hence, Surya Namaskar, or Sun
Salutation, has a range of effects on the human body.

Primarily, it ingrains discipline within you. Although you might be having an erratic schedule
– shifting from board meetings to late-night assignments, brainstorming sessions to business
development initiatives, and so on – devoting time to Surya Namaskar every morning ensures
that you have a set schedule which cannot be altered. It brings greater stability to your life
despite the sheer dynamism prevailing in it.

26
Secondly, it is a full-body workout. Guess how many calories do you burn after a mix of 30-
minute exercises? Weightlifting burns around 199 calories, tennis around 232 calories,
football around 298 calories, rock climbing around 364 calories, and running around 414
calories.

So, technically, 10 minutes of Surya Namaskar translates into burning 139 calories, which is
more than what you’d burn even after swimming for 10 minutes. Surya Namaskar, also
known as ‘The Ultimate Asana’, strengthens your back as well as your muscles and brings
down blood sugar levels. It also improves metabolism and blood circulation.

Anulom-Vilom ( Pranayam ) This is not just a breathing exercise, but it is a noteworthy

yogic technique that involves controlling of subtle ‘Pranic energies’ (or vital force or bio-
energies) of our body flowing through specific channels. The ‘ida’ and ‘pingala’ nadis or
channels (nadis or channels cannot be anatomically indicated.)  The controlling of the Prana
through regular practice of Anulom Vilom pranayama helps to balance the energies flowing
through the Ida and Pingala nadis. This, in turn, stimulates the central channel
called Sushumna Nadi. This helps in elimination of free radicals and toxins from the Ida and
Pingala nadi and helps to restore a balance between the two hemispheres of the brain. This
helps to purify the entire nervous system. Healing and bringing about mental calm, peace,
and tranquillity.

27
Ardha Chakrasana :- Ardha chakrasana yoga is also known as “half wheel pose“, and this
asana is much easier than Chakrasana. A lot of people find it difficult to practice full wheel
pose or say Chakrasana, but half wheel pose is known to be a much easier asana to practice
every day. Here is the meaning of Ardha Chakrasana and Ardha Chakrasana Benefits,
Ardha means ‘half,’ chakra means ‘wheel,’ and Asana means ‘pose.’
The reason this asana is extremely beneficial because this also helps to control blood sugar
level reduces back pain problem, and also help to burn belly fat.

28
Bhujangasana:- “Bhujangasana, also known as Cobra Pose, is a reclining back-bending
asana in Hatha Yoga for strengthening the vertebral column, and acute stretching of
shoulder, abdomen, thorax and lungs. It is generally performed in a cycle of asanas in
Surya Namaskar as an alternative asana to Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward Dog
Pose).”

29
SOCIAL SERVICES
In this report i want to seek attention on some major issues like as “Street Dogs Issue, Stray
Animals, Tree Plantation and Covid 19 Issues.”

In these days we are facing problem of pollution and we overcome on it by tree planting and
it will increase the our environment’s life.

A dog is considered to be man’s best friend, but there is, unfortunately, a dark side to having
dogs on streets. Post-independence, dogs continued to be killed by local authorities – both
regularly and in response to complaints. More than a hundred years of street dog eradication,
however, did not make much of a difference to dog population sizes and the incidence of
human rabies.

ON January 8, 2020, a prescient scientific article was submitted for publication to the Journal
of Travel Medicine on a pneumonia of unknown etiology that was identified in patients in
Wuhan, China, and the potential for its international spread through commercial air
travel.1 This article was in direct response to a communication from the World Health
Organization, which reported on 44 patients with pneumonia from Wuhan City, Hubei
province, China.2 On January 8, 2020, the pathogen causing this form of pneumonia was
identified as the newest member of the coronavirus family confirmed to cause disease in
humans.3 Clinical epidemiological studies and characterization of affected patients soon
followed.4 Prior to the identification of this new virus, there were 6 known human
coronaviruses, of which 4 cause only minor cold-like symptoms, but 2 cause more serious
illnesses: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East
Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

Street Dogs

The Indian government has to come up with large scale interventions and organisations that
can deal with the issue of stray dogs in India. An estimated 35 million stray dogs live
in India and according to World Health Organisation (WHO) India faces about 18,000 to
20,000 cases of rabies every year.

The incidents from rabies in India have been constant for a decade, without any obvious
declining trend, and reported incidence is probably an underestimation of true incidence
because in India rabies is still not a notifiable disease.

In March 2016, civic authorities from Mumbai disclosed in the Supreme Court that dog bites
in Mumbai have taken 434 lives in the time period 1994 to 2015. According to reports more
than 1.3 million people were bitten by dogs in Mumbai during this period. In November
2016, the Supreme Court ordered the Kerala government to stop the vigilante from the
slaughter of stray dogs.

31
Kolkata has a population of more than 80,000 stray dogs, according to the NGOs in the city.
But the number is constantly rising due to a sluggish sterilisation drive.  Activists in the city
blame the administration for not pushing animal control policies, including spaying and
neutering, which would have possibly helped avoid some of the current problems. Similarly
in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh there are around 16,000 stray dogs in the city and according
to officials the population has increased by 3,000 due to failed efforts by civic bodies in
administering sterilisation and other vaccinations to reduce the population.

Feeding Stray Animals... Responsibly!

The times we are living in can sometimes leave us perplexed about the good and the bad. On
the one hand, they say “the world is a bad place to live in” and then on the other, we
encounter and read of so many instances of kindness, making us believe otherwise. While the
perception of good or bad is subjective, we have witnessed a pleasant change over the years
-- that of feeding stray animals! Once shunned by society, stray animals are finding their way
into the hearts and minds of a particular segment of humans. These animal lovers are doing
their bit to provide less fortunate animals with one of the basic needs of living -- food!
There are several groups across the city that are in the practice of daily feeding for stray
animals. However, they only form a small part of society. Opposition or resistance against
stray animals has stemmed from factors including but not limited to the mindset that animals
belong to a different species. This directly affects the objectives of animal lovers and feeders
further entailing a huge responsibility for them and the need to undertake it extra consciously.
Here are some ways in which YOU can help BOTH humans and animals, simply by being a
responsible animal feeder!

Stray dogs deserve all the love & affection

32
There a lot of adorable , harmless stray animals in every corner of India . All they look for is
some love and patting but sadly , all they get is a pretty rough life . Animals have as much
right to live as human beings . They deserve to live their lives free from suffering and
exploitation . Animals cannot speak for themselves and for that reason we need to protect
them . It should be something that we should take pride in and responsibility . Most of the
dogs live in a miserable condition and don’t even die a natural death . The condition of these
stray animals is devastating . They are so common , many of us barely stop to give them a
second thought , rather a second look . However , if we could take out few minutes

f
rom our busy schedules , we could do so much for them because these innocent souls have
taught us to love unconditionally and that life is beautiful when you share and care . They
accompany us wherever we go . They are like free bodyguards and companion when walking
alone . For them , every single day is about survival . They are ill treated , shooed away and
beaten up . And all they need at the end of the day is a WARM HUG ! Lets make this world a
better place to live in . “THEY DESERVE TO BE TREATED IN THE BEST WAY
POSSIBLE.”

Covid 19

First We Need To Understand, What is Corona-virus

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses transmitting between animals and people
that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East
respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV).
Reports suggest that 2019-nCoV, COVID19, infection can cause mild to severe disease and
be fatal in some. Common observed symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore
throat, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia or
severe acute respiratory syndrome, particularly in those with other chronic underlying health
conditions, and even death.

Today whole world is suffering from ‘Corona-virus’ and it taking thousand of death on daily
base, first it is revealed from ‘Wuhan’ China. It is the updated version of Sars mers-Virus.
We are collectively facing a Pandemic threat that is sweeping across the humanity beyond
oceans and borders. Considering the seriousness of COVID-19, it's about time we step up
against this deadly disease. For the sake of lives lost and the rest of humanity, let us all
pledge to beat Corona back.

Covid-19 in India: Why second coronavirus wave is devastating?

34
Second Covid wave wreaks havoc across India. Data suggests that this wave is proving to be
more infectious and deadlier in some states, although India's death rate from the virus is still
relatively low. But the county's healthcare system is crumbling amid the surge in cases.

Experts say this rapid increase shows that the second wave is spreading much faster across
the country. Big religious gatherings, the reopening of most public places and crowded
election rallies are being blamed for the uptick. A false sense of normalcy crept in and
everybody, including people and officials, did not take measures to stop the second wave.

Mucormycosis: The 'black fungus' maiming Covid patients in India

Even as a deadly second wave of Covid-19 ravages India, doctors are now reporting a rash of
cases involving a rare infection - also called the "black fungus" - among recovering and
recovered Covid-19 patients.

It is a very rare infection. It is caused by exposure to mucor mould which is commonly found
in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables.
Doctors believe mucormycosis, which has an overall mortality rate of 50%, may be being
triggered by the use of steroids, a life-saving treatment for severe and critically ill Covid-19
patients.

Patients suffering from the fungal infection typically have symptoms of stuffy and bleeding
nose; swelling of and pain in the eye; drooping of eyelids; and blurred and finally, loss of
vision. There could be black patches of skin around the nose.
Doctors say most of their patients arrive late, when they are already losing vision, and doctors
have to surgically remove the eye to stop the infection from reaching the brain.
In some cases, doctors in India say, patients have lost their vision in both eyes. And in rare
cases, doctors have to surgically remove the jaw bone in order to stop the disease from
spreading.
Acknowledge the issue, care for precautions, act in the best health interests of your society
and isolated, yet together, we shall hurt Corona.

35
Stay at Home, Maintain social distancing and let’s fight COVID -19 together

Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In
humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that can be mild, such as some cases
of the common cold (among other possible causes, predominantly rhinoviruses), and others
that can be lethal, such as SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. Symptoms in other species vary: in
chickens, they cause an upper respiratory tract disease, while in cows and pigs they cause
diarrhea. There are yet to be vaccines or antiviral  drugs to prevent or treat human
coronavirus infections.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory
illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with
underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory
disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness The best way to prevent and
slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes
and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or
using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face. The COVID-19 virus
spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected
person coughs or sneezes, so it’s  important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for
example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are
many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide
updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.

The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared Corona an emergency of

international concern to a pandemic on March 11. As ever, when the word “pandemic” starts

36
appearing in headlines, people become fearful, and with fear come misinformation and
rumors. Here are some fact checks.

Also to prevent this pandemic govt. has come up with various new innovative ideas there are
many awareness campaigns that are being run and people are being educated about the
preventive measures and importance of Social distancing at this time.
The Government of India has launched Aarogya Setu, a mobile application aimed to connect
health services and we the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19. The
App will augment GoI’s initiatives in proactively reaching out to and informing the users
about the potential risk of infection, best practices and relevant medical advisories pertaining
to the containment of COVID-19 pandemic.

37
Since the outburst of Pandemic COVID 19 in Himachal govt. has also take many steps to
contain this also all the health workers are working day and night to keep us and our families’
safe .

Here is list of a few steps that state govt. took to control COVID 19 and to maintain the
supply of essential commodities at the time of lock down:
 State government has decided that the Social Security Pension to widows and disabled
persons would be given at increased rate from April 01, 2020. As per the decision the
pension would be increased from Rs. 850 to Rs. One thousand.
 State govt. has decided to extend the last date of depositing school fees by 30th April,
2020 without any late fee. Management of the concerned private schools would have to
take appropriate decision/ action to intimate the parents of the students regarding this
decision.
 State government has extended the offer to all the Medical Officer, faculty members and
paramedical staff, who have retired or have been released from the Military and
Paramilitary forces for appointment for the post of Medical Officer or paramedical staff.
They should have the experience of working on equivalent or analogues post and possess
prescribed minimum educational, professional qualifications and qualifying service for
appointment to these posts.
 Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure that the supply chain of essential
commodities in the State was maintained effectively so that there was no dearth of
essential commodities in wake of Corona epidemic.
 National Food Security Act (NFSA) families in the state will be given the quota of food
grains of April and May months in April on priority basis.
 To ensure that the people could purchase the essential commodities, the state government
had yesterday decided to give six hours relaxation in curfew by maintaining proper social
distancing, but it was felt that the people are misusing this relaxation and coming out un-
necessarily thereby defeating the purpose of curfew. Now, the state government has
decided to give three hours relaxation daily in the curfew so that people could purchase
essential commodities nearer to their homes.

38
 State Government has decided to ensure availability of essential medicines to citizens
facing difficulty in getting such medicines during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Disclosing this, requiring any particular medicine available in other parts of the state or
even outside the state could register the requirement for the medicine on the helpline
numbers 0177-2626076 and 0177-2626077 or toll free No. 1070. He said that efforts
would be made to make the medicine available in the nearest available chemist shop of his
location.

 State Govt.sanctioned rupees one crore (Rs. 50 lakhs from HP COVID-19 Solidarity
Response Fund and Rs. 50 lakhs from State Disaster Response Fund) to Police
Department for purchase of high risk Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits and N-95
masks for police personnel of the State in the wake of pandemic COVID-19.
