ANSWER 1:

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) raised the benchmark lending rate by 50 basis points on
Tuesday, citing persistently high inflation. A basis point is a tenth of a percentage point. As a
result, the repo rate is now at 4.90 percent. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das told the media that
all six members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted unanimously in favour of the
latest rate hike, and that the repo rate remains below the pre-pandemic level. The repo rate is
the interest rate at which the central bank lends money to commercial banks, whereas the CRR
is the minimum amount of reserves that banks must deposit with the central bank.
Last month, the six-member Monetary Policy Committee, led by Das, hiked the repo rate, or
short-term lending rate, by 40 basis points in an off-cycle monetary policy review to combat
spiralling inflation. It was the first rate increase since August of last year. The cash reserve ratio
(CRR) was also increased by 50 basis points to 4.50 percent by the central bank.

Dinesh Khara, chairman of the State Bank of India, stated that the rate hike was due to the
current global uncertainty.
Since October 2021, inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has been rising, which
the RBI considers when determining its monetary policy. Since January, retail inflation has
stayed over the RBI's upper tolerance range of 6%. In April, it hit an eight-year high of 7.79
percent.

The government has given the central bank the aim of maintaining retail inflation at 4% with a
2% buffer on either side.
On the back of improved urban demand and a steady recovery in rural India, the RBI kept its
growth forecast for the current fiscal at 7.2 percent. The Indian economy is resilient, according
to Das, and the central bank will continue to support growth.

The RBI forecasts 16.2% growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, tapering to 4% by
the fourth quarter.

The central bank cut its GDP growth prediction for 2022-23 from 7.8% to 7.2 percent in April,
down from 7.8% previously.

ANSWER 2 :
Obesity is a condition in which the body accumulates an excessive quantity of fat. Aside from
being a chronic condition, it can also lead to various health issues such as heart disease,
diabetes, high blood pressure, and, in certain circumstances, cancer. Obesity and overweight
are significant concerns in developing countries like ours, and they are expected to rapidly
increase over time. However, Obesity can be reversed.
The following are some basic lifestyle modifications that should be adopted into our everyday
lives in order to reverse obesity and live a healthy life:

1. Healthy diet : Consume a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy products, lean
meats and other protein sources, as well as entire grains, as recommended by doctors.
High-calorie, low-nutrient foods are advised to be limited or avoided. High-processed or
fried foods, refined carbohydrates like cakes, cookies, and white breads, packaged
snack items, and fatty cuts of meat are all examples. Sodas, fruit juices, sports drinks,
and alcoholic beverages, which are high in calories and added sugar, should be limited
or avoided.
2. Exercise: Exercising regularly helps you lose weight by burning calories and boosting
your metabolic rate, which is the number of calories (or energy) your body burns during
the day. Exercise can aid in the reduction of body fat. It also helps you gain muscle,
which allows you to burn more calories even when you're not exercising. Exercise
improves heart and lung function over time, making it simpler to stay active.

3. Avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol: Both smoking and consuming alcohol have
serious negative impacts on the health. Smoking adds to the already existing
complications associated with obesity, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Alcohol has a direct effect on the liver, whereas smoking adds to the already existing
complications associated with obesity, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
4. 7-8 hours of sleep: In order to achieve metabolic balance and perform efficiently on a
daily basis, our bodies require appropriate sleep and rest.

5. Manage stress: Binge eating is a result of stress. People should look into different
techniques of coping with stress, such as meditation and yoga.
