3 Submitting Digital Files
For SMART Print, please consult the SMART Print Prepress
Guide available from your Account Manager or on line at:
www.americdisc.com.
For offset print, Americ Disc can accept documents created in
MAC and IBM environments:
• Quark XPress
• Illustrator (Please create outline fonts)
• Page Maker
• Freehand (Please create outline fonts)
• Photoshop (Graphics only, no typesetting)
This list is regularly updated. Other formats may be accepted.
Please verify with your Account Manager prior to submission.
Accepted media:
• CD-R
• ZIP 100 Cartridge
• Electronic: Files can also be sent via e-mail or uploaded to our
secure FTP site. Please contact customer service for details.
Please clearly indicate the name of the file to print. We must
receive all the TIFF and EPS documents such as fonts, logos and
images that are included in your file as well as a black and white
output to compare with our films. Black text must be black over-
print only.
A copy of every screen font and printer font used in your artwork
and layout programs should be included with the files sent.
Scan must be 300 dpi to be printed 150 lpi.
All scans and pictures must be in EPS or TIFF formats and should
be saved as separated CMYK files.
Leave 1/8" bleed all around where required. All crop-marks, fold,
perforation and die cuts should be indicated.
4 Submitting Films
We can to print: 1 to 6 colors, including 4 process colors and
2 pantone colors.
Americ Disc Inc. requires final composed full size films, with the
exception of multiple page spreads such as booklets and folders.

Negatives should be emulsion down, right reading.
Leave a 1/8 inch bleed all around where required. Crop-marks,
fold, perforation and die cuts should be indicated.
Line screens 150 lpi should be used. If a higher screen value is
required Americ Disc should be notified to avoid possible prob-
lems at press time.
A proof MUST be sent with all final films. Where color is being
used a color proof such as Matchprint or ColorKey is required. If
a laser proof is supplied Americ Disc cannot be held accountable
for a mismatch between the final printed product and the proof.
For B&W work a Dylux (blue print) will suffice. Samples (if
available) are always a good reference if there have been no
changes since the last printing.
Where multiple page booklets & folders are involved, a Mock-up
is absolutely required to assemble the product with the right
page layout. A simple black and white laser or hand drawn
mock-up with the pagination will suffice.
For all custom designed jobs for which no layout or printing
specs exist, Americ Disc must be supplied with a layout and print
specifications in laser output or die line format.
Due to limitations in printing and bindery processes, new designs
have to be approved by Americ Disc before production to avoid
costly errors.
Americ Disc will supply all clients with a technical drawing of
existing layouts upon demand.
5 Spine Labels
Americ Disc offers you the possibility to put top spine labels
(barcodes, title, logo of your company...) on Amaray and
AlphaPack DVD packaging. Company logos must be supplied in
IBM PCX format. To know more about the available fonts and
type of barcodes, please contact our Customer Service
department.
