NAYIB ARMANDO BUKELE ORTEZ

Nayib Bukele is a Salvadoran politician and businessman. He is

the current president of the Republic of the El Salvador for the
“Grand Alliance for National Unity” since June-1,2019.
Born on July 24,1981 in San Salvador, son of a chemical
engineer Armando Bukele Kattan and of Olga Marina Ortez of
catholic religion. His paternal family, originally from Belen and
Jerusalem, emigrated to El Salvador in the early twentieth
century with an Ottoman passport. His father, an important
imam in San Salvador, promoted some of the first mosques in Latin America.
Bukele founder of the first mosque in El Salvador. He has three younger brothers:
1. Karim Bukele Ortez.
2. Ibrajim Bukele Ortez.
3. Yusef Bukele Ortez.
He married Gabriela Rodríguez in December 2014, with whom he has a relationship of
more than ten years. The couple’s first daughter was born in August 2019, who was
named Layla.
Gabriela Rodríguez de Bukele, born in San Salvador on March 31,1985 is a Salvadoran
educator, psychologist and dancer, who holds the tittle of first lady of El Salvador since
June 1, 2019 by being the wife of the president of El Salvador.
Bukele was mayor of San Salvador from 2015 to 2018, driven by the leftist Farabundo
Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) from which he was expelled in 2017.
Social networks have been its great allies. Since he won the elections and until his
inauguration, Bukele did not give a press conference and launched his messages via
Twitter. If he needed to give a longer explanation, he turned to Facebook live.
In June, Nayib Bukele topped the world ranking of the best evaluated leaders, prepared
by consulta Mitofsky. It has 71% approval.
Has its own video game “Nayib vs. Polysaurs” is the name of the video game created by
the Salvadoran in which character represent his person against colored dinosaurs’
political parties in El Salvador.
Summary of projects that Bukele achieved in 20 days of government:
o Disrupting Nepotism.
o Through social networks, president Nayib Bukele changed the name to the Third
Infantry Brigade Colonel Domingo Monterrosa.
o To promise the affected survivors and relatives of the horrible reception of the
Mozote, that he would give them government help, something that the FMLN had
never deigned to do.
o Nayib gets the largest donation for medicines and improve the health system in the
country.
o Dignified the police.
o Disarticulation of communication in prisons.
Bukele was the most supportive president during the hurricanes Eta and Iota that affected
Honduras, providing humanitarian aid to the Hondurans affected in the north of the
country and the national congress approved an opinion where they once recognized
president Nayib Bukele for showing solidarity.
Likewise, the Salvadoran president sent anti-covid vaccines to several municipalities in
the country a part of a request from several Honduran mayors when the pandemic was at
the highest peaks of contagion.
The fight against crime is the main achievement of the government of Nayib Bukele after
three years at the head of the Salvadoran executive, according to the results of a public
opinion poll released on Thursday.
In addition to his youth and his casual aesthetics, his beard profiled to the point that it
looks like a drawing and his gummed and neat hair, Nayib Bukele has distinguished
himself by trying to handle a peculiar centrism in the declarative field, recalling at times
the French Macron or the Spanish Rivera, you know, that we are not right or left, just
neutral managers of public affairs. Although this way of understanding politics is as
tricky as it is conservative, since the management always has to be done in some sense
and, generally, whoever uses this rhetoric ends up betting or the big owners, the message
has been successful in the Salvadoran electoral.
And last but not least, Bukele continues to promote strengthening actions for the
protection and welfare of companion animals that through the Special Animal Welfare
Law, now recognize and guarantee the rights of pets, including access to quality medical
services, and it will seek to created law that ensures and protects the lives of domestic
animals (dogs and cats), and punish acts of animal cruelty of these with prison.
