1. Identification and marking: (IEC61643-11, Section 7.1.1/7.1.2/8.2)
The following Identifications and markings are permanently attached to the body of the SPD,
b) Uc
c) Class II
g) Identification of terminals
Markings are not been placed or removable, indelible and legible by rubbing the makings by hand for 15s with a piece of cotton
soaked with water and again for 15s with a piece of cotton soaked with aliphatic solvent hexane.
Pass criteria
After test, the marking should be easily legible.
Conclusion: pass
Conclusion: Pass.

3.Residual current (IEC61643-11, Section 7.2.2/8.3.2)
The SPD was connected as for normal use, and voltage shall be adjusted to the reference test voltage of Uref.
To DS120/320-(V+T)-S, the Uref is 255 Vac
Measure the residual current flowing through the PE terminal.
Result:
Conclusion: Pass.
Then testing SPDs to class II, 8/20 current impulses with a sequence of crest values of approximately 0,1; 0,2; 0,5; 1,0 times In
shall be applied. If the SPD contains only voltage-limiting components, this test needs only to be performed at crest values of
Iimp for test class I or In for test class II.
To voltage switching SPD, The 1,2/50 voltage impulse is used. The generator voltage is set to an open circuit output voltage of 6
kV.
Pass criteria
The highest voltage value shall not exceed the value declared by the manufacturer
NOTE: The residual voltage is the highest crest value measured during surge current flow. Any high frequency disturbances
and spikes before and during current flow caused by specific generator design, like crowbar generators, are disregarded
Voltage and current records and visual inspection shall show no indication of puncture or flashover.
No visible damage shall occur during the test.
Result:
The maximum residual voltage measured is at In: 60kA 8/20μs.
Max measured limiting voltage @ In: 1488V(L-N)
Max measured limiting voltage @ 1.2/50: 1140V(N-PE)

Three group of five impulse of In 8/20 current impulse with positive polarity, and SPDs are energized at Uc.
Each impulse shall be synchronized to power frequency. Starting from 0o the synchronization angle shall be increased in steps of
(30+/-5) intervals. After the last group of impulses and the 1min period the SPD remains applied to Uc for another 15min to
check for stability.
The SPD is energized at Uc by means of a voltage source having a nominal current capability of at least 5A. This test is carried
out with current impulses in steps up to Ipeak for SPDs tested.
Pass criteria
Thermal stability shall be achieved.
Voltage and current records and visual inspection shall no indication of puncture or flashover.
No visible damage shall occur.
Values for measured limiting voltage after the test shall be low or equal to Up.
Internal and external disconnectors shall be in work order after test.

The SPDs connect to a power frequency source. And the current is set to a constant value.
To first sample, the test is started at a value of 2mA rms or at Uc. This value of current is then increased in steps of either 2mA
or 5% of the previously adjusted test current, whichever is greater. Each step is maintained until thermal equilibrium is
reached( variation of temperature at the hottest spot less than 2K within 10min).
For the other samples the start point shall be changed from 2mA to a current corresponding to 5 steps below the current value at
which the first sample disconnected .
Pass criteria
The surface temperature rise of indoor SPDs shall not exceed 120K during and after test.
Five min after disconnection of all non-linear components under test the surface temperature rise shall not exceed 80K.
