Augmented Reality
WHAT IS AR ?
Augmented reality is a technology that creates
an interaction between the real world and
virtual data (such as objects, images, text, etc.).
This virtual data is superimposed into reality
through images in 2D or 3D through the screen
of a connected device, such as a smartphone,
tablet, or connected glasses.
Categories of AR Apps and Examples of their Usage:
Augmented Reality Games:
AR Gaming software is probably the most common type of App. These apps
create mesmeric gaming experiences that use your actual surroundings.

Examples: Pokémon Go, Parallel Kingdom, Temple Treasure Hunt,

Real Strike, Zombie Go, etc.

Wayfair
If you’ve ever shopped for furniture and tried to picture how it would look in your mind, now there’s a better way.
Actually “see” your new furniture in your space before you commit!

New with iOS 11, the Wayfair app for iPhone and iPad (at left) now integrates AR so you can see virtual 3D
furniture and décor in their homes at full-scale before you buy. With AR seamlessly incorporated into the shopping
experience, you have the opportunity to discover, visualize and purchase home furnishings easily — with no
worries about buyer’s remorse
Magicplan

With Magicplan, you’ll see a virtual pin and grid that, with a tap, can mark the
corners of the room to determine dimensions and quickly create a floor plan
of accurate room measurements. Amazon integration makes it easy to
directly order products for your space.

WHAT IS VIRTUAL REALITY ?

Virtual reality is an artificial environment that

is created with software and presented to
the user in such a way that the user believe
and accepts it as a real environment. Virtual
realities artificially create sensory
experience, such as sight, touch, hearing, and
smell.
Applications Of VR
Most computer games / videos are entirely
virtual
• Immersion, or engagement, can be very high
• Quality spatial resolution
• Stereo
• Smooth motion
• Little time delay between user interactions and visual effects
• Synchronized audio and force feedback are important
Education and training:

The Application of VR in a training purpose is to allow professionals to

conduct training in a virtual environment where they can improve upon
their skills without failing the operation
Retail:

Lowe's, IKEA, and Wayfair have developed systems that allow these
company's products to be seen in virtual reality, to give consumers a
better idea of how the product will fit into their home, or to allow the
consumer to get a better look at the product from home.

Advantages of Virtual Reality:
• One of most important advantage of VR can create a realistic world
so that user can explore world.
• Virtual Reality in education field makes education more easily and
comfort.
• Through Virtual Reality user can experiment with an artificial
environment
Disadvantages of Virtual Reality:
• VR is becoming much more commonplace but programmers are still
stuck with how to interact with virtual environments.
• The idea of escapism is common place among those that use VR
environments and people often live in the virtual world instead of
dealing with the real one.
• Training with a VR environment does not have the same result as
training and working in the real world. This means that even if
someone does well with simulated tasks in a VR environment, that
person might not do well in the real world.
