• Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia. It is located


in northern central Australia on the Timor Sea and is the largest city in the
Northern Territory.

over 60 air raids on Darwin, destroying public buildings, ships and aircraft.

• On Christmas Day, 1974, Cyclone Tracy swept through Darwin, killing 66


people and injuring thousands. The rebuilding of the city has gradually turned
Darwin into the most modern capital city in Australia.

season has monsoonal rains, storms, and
high humidity. The dry season has warm,
