The Amish people in America live in a very
traditional way. They produce their own food.
They don’t use modern machines. They haven’t
got cars. They travel by horse and cart instead.
The children haven’t got a lot of modern things,

Esther, who is fifteen years old, says she hardly
ever feels bored. ‘I meet friends or I help my
mum at home,’ she says. ‘I don’t go shopping

usually happy with my life, but sometimes I
really want to watch TV!’
