(Educ 109)
This course is designed to provide graduate
students in education with a basic understanding
of school finance theory and current practice.
Emphasis is directed at two major areas:
1. Resources-Sources of funds generated to
finance schools.
2. Uses of Funds-How and where funds are
expended. Specific focus will be directed to the
Philippine School Budget, the budgetting process,
reporting requirements, the accounting function,
cash flow analysis, business office procedures,
impact on revenues and expenditures, and the
political environment impacting school finance.
Objectives:
• 1. identify and understand the major financial and
human resources needed to manage schools and
school districts.
• 2. identify school-based budgetting issues.
• 3. collaborate effectively and respectively with
collegues.
• 4. familiarize accounting control system.
• 5. demonstrate an ability to communicate educational
goals through the budgetary process to students, staff,
and community.
• 6. manage capital assets, goods and services, allocating
resources in accordance with school priorities.
