Assistant Summer Activity Coordinator

The Stony Plain Public Library is looking for our 2022 Summer Program Assistant! Spend your
summer spreading the love of reading to kids and families through programs and reading games
in beautiful Stony Plain, AB.

Full time: 35 hours per week for 8 weeks, starting June 27, 2022 to August 19, 2022. Includes
days, and some evening and weekend shifts. Wage: $15.62/hr

Are you someone who:


• Really enjoys working with children and is passionate about reading & literacy?
• Excels at planning and organizing?
• Likes being creative and dreaming up fun ideas?
You’ll get to:
• Help our Summer Activity Coordinator with activities and stories
• Prepare crafts and games for kids
• Work with out Drama Club as they prepare their summer production
You must:
• Have some experience working with children in a structured environment
• Be able to provide positive and enthusiastic customer service to children and adults
• Demonstrate excellence in communicating
• Be familiar with children’s literature
• Provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
• Meet the requirements of the Young Canada Works grant
Young Canada Works Requirements:

• Must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-
Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Be between 16-30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory
• Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
• Not have another full-time job while employed with the program
• Have been a high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by your
educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment
• Intend to return to studies during or after the YCW work assignment.
