Cooperative Instruction Lesson Plan Format
I. Describe the class
A diverse class of about 30 students. A few students are under a behavioral management
program. One student with a visual impairment.

III. Objectives

Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific


details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions).
IV. Procedures

Step 1: 5 Minute Writing Activity


Step 2: Teacher Led Lesson
Step 3: Whole Class Collaborative Analytical: A short passage is read. Teacher points out
certain phrases and the class draws inferences.
Step 4: Simultaneous Roundtable Cooperative Learning Kagan Structure Group Activity
(Worksheets): Students write a response on their own paper. Then students pass their papers
within the group to add or build a response.
Step 5: Individual Work Worksheet: Students are given a passage and questions to answer.

Group of three students with similar analytical abilities

VII. Modifications
Students under a behavioral management program are separated and their program and its
procedures are kept in mind. They are watched during group activity to monitor. Modeling is
used and students are paired with a skilled model.
The student with a visual impairment is given the option of an audio source or the passage given
are spoken aloud by the teacher and their group partners. Any advanced assistive technology in
their IEP is used or involved like speech synthesizers.

Group activity worksheet is assessed & individual worksheet is assessed.
