CREATIVE In this section you will demonstrate your improvisation skills using the backings provided on the CPM recording. The weighting for this section is 15%. Two backings are provided on the CPM recording for practice. In the assessment, the assessor will choose one of these for your improvisation. Extensive pre-preparation of this section is not intended and written-out examples will not be appropriate in the assessment session. Each backing is based on a familiar chord pattern ~ the |2 bar blues progression; and the | - vi- ii- V progression. The examples below are a guide to what is expected. Elaborate on the repeat rather than play the same melody lines twice. These examples are not to be reproduced in the assessment session. Please note that backing track | begins with two bars click-in and backing track 2 begins with one bar click-in.
