The Vic bobbin wound filter has a screw-top lid for easy access with quick-locking mechanism for diameters
up to and including Ø 2 m. Vic filters with diameters of Ø 2.35 m, Ø 2.5 m and Ø 3 m, have a Ø 400 mm

FILTRATION
bolt-down lid.
Fitted with new 11/2" collector arms in moulded ABS, these one piece laterals varying in length from 90 mm
to 525 mm, replace the need for interconnecting unions previously required to make up the length. This
makes maintenance easier and more effective. Less head drain loss is also achieved thanks to the increased
diameter of the collector arms.
The collector tubes are manufactured in moulded PVC and have a diameter of 90 mm. Water drainage and air
relief are now quicker thanks to the inclusion of 1" diameter air and water purge valves.
The distance between the upper sand bed and the freeboard has been increased to ensure improved water
distribution in the filtration stage and to avoid sand falling into the drainage system during the wash cycle.

An interior vinylester coating is required if ozone is to be used

General features:
- 100% resistant to corrosion unlike conventional steel filters

FILTRATION
- Maximum operating temperature 50ºC
- Comply with European standards for pressure vessels 97/23/CE included in section 3 of article 3
- Hydraulic pressure test 1.5 times the maximum admissible pressure

Technical features of internal components:

- Internal components and pipe in PVC
- Laterals and nozzles in PP
- Airwash connection in models with underdrain nozzle plates
Oslo - Bolts, nuts and washers in AISI-316
- EPDM seals and gaskets.

Advantages of using an underdrain nozzle plate system over the conventional lateral system:
- There are no areas beneath the nozzles for water to stagnate as could occur in a lateral system
- Optimum filter bed backwash with a uniform water distribution
- Possibility of air wash with consequent saving of clean water
- The lateral manhole is recommended for sand discharge

The characteristics of liquids to be filtered should be indicated clearly when

requesting ozone or other chemical resistant coatings for the filter interior.

HORIZONTAL BOBBIN WOUND FILTERS

Quality filtration and transparency of water

The AstralPool high performance, horizontal bobbin wound filters are made of polyester reinforced with fibre-
glass; they are totally anti-corrosive, and have high mechanical, chemical and thermal resistance.

Higher quality water is achieved with their greater filtering capacity. Indexes of turbidity and contaminants of
the filtered water are reduced due to their increased retention capacity.

The time between backwashes increases proportionally with the height of the filter bed, meaning there are
fewer interruptions in filtration,and lower water consumption, because the number of backwashes needed is
decreased and there is less erosion of the filtering material.

A horizontal filter is the ideal choice in cases where a great volume of water is to be treated, and in cases which
require optimisation of the available space, as a single horizontal filter can substitute up to 3 vertical filters of
the same diameter simply by increasing its length.
