TOPIC: PERSISTENCY & CONSISTENCY IN PRAYER
TEXTS: Daniel 6: 1 - 28
AIM: That the MAABC students will pray consistently and
persistently to God.
IN ADVANCE:
 Pray for God’s anointing on the learning process.
 Pray for the scholars that they will be able to understand
and apply the lesson in their lives.
 Read and study the passage and the whole lesson well.
 Prepare the needed materials.
CLASS SESSION
Greetings
Opening Song: Pray Consistently/Persistently
Opening Prayer:
ENTRANCE
Method: STICK RACE
Instruction: Divide the students into 2 groups. Give each
group a box of newly bought matches/posporo. Put a price on
the finish line of each group.
Say: You are going to have a race by connecting the posporo
together reach the finish line. Be sure that it is connected
continuously until the end to win the prize.
ASK: Do you think it is possible for you to win the prize
without continuously connecting the posporo? (accept answers)
Transition Sentence: This morning also, we will witness how
the continuous or consistent and persistent prayer of a person
made a difference in his life.
(Introduce the Topic & Texts)
SUBSTANCE
Method: Buzz Group (Divide the class into three groups)
(Option: Distribute questions to each one present if scholars are
few.)
Say: in your group appoint a leader to lead the discussion and a
secretary to record the answer. After 5 minutes a leader in the
group will do the reporting.
I – Praying consistently and persistently shows
ultimate dependence on God.
1. Describe what kind of man is Daniel. Dan. 6:3-4
Ans: He is one of the administrators who is so distinguished
among other administrators, an honest man, free from
corruption and trustworthy and not negligent to his work.
2. Why did the satraps and other administrators conspire to
find grounds for charges against Daniel? Dan. 6:3-4a
Ans: Because Daniel became outstanding/distinguish among all
the satraps and administrators to the point that king Darius
planned to make him in-charge of the whole empire.
3. What grounds did they find to accused Daniel? Dan. 6:5
Ans: Daniel’s Religion/something to do with the law of his
God/requirements of his religion.
4. What did the Satraps do to get rid of Daniel? (Dan. 6:5 – 9)
Ans: They went to the king and asked him to issue a decree that
any man who prays to any gods or man except the king, will be
thrown to the lion’s den.
5. What did Daniel always do even before he learned about the
decree? Daniel 6:10
Ans: He went home and to his upstairs room where windows
opened toward Jerusalem just as he had always done, knelt
down at the open windows and prayed to God three times a day.
6. Why do you think Daniel always pray to God? (cf. Ps. 104:9;
Jn. 15:5)
P/Ans: because he is a man of prayer and he acknowledge that
he can do nothing without God. He shows that he’s ultimate
dependence is on God alone that’s why he always prays.
Say: As we can see in the life of Daniel, he prayed always to God
because his dependence is ultimate dependence on God alone.
He acknowledged that apart from God he is nothing and nothing
he can do without God that’s why he consistently and
persistently prayed to God for help.
II – Praying consistently and persistently develops
Christ-like Characters.
7. How did Daniel respond to what the Satraps do to him? Dan.
6:10
Ans: He went home and prayed just as he had done before. He
did not retaliate but remain calm.
8. What are characters that Daniel displays that we can also see
in the life of Jesus when he was being accused and even
crucified?
Possible Answers:
 Submissive - He submitted to the will of God
 Humble - He did not say any word or even retaliate when
he was being thrown in the lion’s den.
 Trustful/Faithful to God
 Punish even he’s innocent
 Self-controlled & patience – he did not attack his enemies
but remains calm despite the difficult situation.
 A man of Prayer –always spend time with God alone
Say: I do believe that Daniel develops Christ-like characters
because of his consistent and persistent prayers to God. He
always communed with God and became persistent in his
prayers despite the danger he will face in doing so.
III – Praying consistently and persistently produces
wonderful Results.
9. What happened before Daniel was thrown into the Lion’s
den? Dan. 6:14-16
Ans: The king was greatly distressed and was determined to
rescue Daniel by making every effort until sun down to save
Daniel.
10. Did the king able to rescue Daniel? Why? Dan. 6:15-16
Ans: No, because according to the Medes and Persians no
decrees or edict that the king issues can be changed.
11. What did the king say instead to Daniel? Dan. 6:16b
Ans: The king said to Daniel that “May your God whom you
serve continually rescue you.”
12. What happened in Daniel 6: 19-23?
Ans: At the first light of the dawn the king called to Daniel in an
anguished voice and he heard Daniel answered him that God
shut the mouth of the lions and he is alive because he is
innocent and have never done any wrong against the king.
Daniel was lifted from the den no wounds was found on him.
13. What was the reason why Daniel experienced such wonderful
rescue? (cf. Dan. 2:18a, 6:10c & 23c)
Ans: Because Daniel plead and prayed to God and he always
trusted God everything.
14. How did the Lord reward Daniel’s consistent and persistent
prayers? Dan. 6:24 & 28
Ans: Those who falsely accused Daniel were brought in and
thrown into the lion’s den, along with their wives and children
that even before they reached the floor of the den the lions
overpowered them and crushed all their bones and Daniel
prospered during the reign of Darius and Cyrus the Persian.
15. Would Daniel still experience those wonderful rescues from
the Lord IF he is not consistent and persistent in his prayers
and Why?
Ans: No, because only God can do such things. No man on earth
can do such wondrous works only God can.
16. Who is glorified as a result of Daniel’s consistent and
persistent prayers? Dan. 6:25-27
Ans: The living God who rescues and saves, performs signs and
wonders in heaven and on the earth who rescued Daniel from
the lions.

Say: Daniel always experienced the wondrous works of the Lord
because of his consistency and persistency in Prayer. He never
doubted God even when his life is at stake because he knows
God through his prayers and that he answers those who
consistently and persistently seek him in prayer.
GENERAL TRUTH
A Believer’s consistent and persistent prayer shows
that his/her ultimate dependence is on God in which
eventually develops Christ-like characters and
produces wonderful results for the glory of God.
PERFORMANCE
Method: Finish the Sentence
Instruction: Give a copy to each scholars of the Finish
Sentence.
Say: This time I want you to identify some people in the Bible
who are consistent and persistent in their prayer life. Choose
one that you would like to emulate and finish the sentence by
writing the name of that person on the blank. Put your name
and signature above it and the date. Keep it and may it serve as a
reminder for you to be consistent and persistent in your prayers.
