Good Morning everyone. Esteemed judges, honorable Guest, respected teachers and my fellow students.

I, Hajara feel honored to have been given the opportunity to speak against the topic “Its better to be a
Xenomanian that to be a Xenophobian in Nigeria today.

Xenophobia, or fear of strangers, is a broad term that may be applied to any fear of someone who
is different from us. Hostility towards outsiders is often a reaction to fear It typically involves the
belief that there is a conflict between an individual's ingroup and an outgroup. Xenophobia often
overlaps with forms of prejudice including racism and homophobia, but there are important
distinctions. Where racism, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination are based on specific
characteristics, xenophobia is usually rooted in the perception that members of the outgroup are
foreign to the ingroup community. On the opposite xenomania is the excessive fondness of all
things foreign.
Below are some points/reasons why it is better to be a Xenophobian than a Xenomanian in
Nigeria today.
Firstly, being a xenophobia implies that you stay in Nigeria, vote and take up government positions.
You can even contest to become the president of Nigeria. In addition, you won’t need a residence
permit before you apply for other countries visas.
Secondly, as a Xenophobian, you can easily set up your own business without restrictions. You can
visit any of the ECOWAS countries and stay there for 90 days. And even easily relocate to any of the
ECOWAS countries and set up your business there without too many restrictions unlike when you’re
a Xenomanian where many restrictions will be placed on you.
Thirdly, Nigeria is very rich in arts and culture. The country has produced many famous painters
and sculptors. Being Xenophobian also present a great deal of opportunity for someone who
wants to go into painting and art. Nigeria has well over 250 ethnic groups, speaking over 500
languages. Experiencing Nigeria is something you can never get to experience anywhere else in
the world and I warn again, cannot be experienced just in one trip. Imagine being in the midst of
the most populous black nation in the world, most populous nation in Africa and the Giant of
Africa; a people with a unique approach to life, very religious and easy to become friends with. I
am sure you cannot consume all the available experience in 5 years.
Panel of Judges, Invited Guest, ladies & Gentlemen I believe with the above few points you’re
convinced that being a Xenophobian is very much better that a Xenomanian in Nigeria.
Thank you for listenining!
