terminating plug is fitted to the last device in the chain of
devices connected to the RJ45 interface board.

If the terminator has been omitted or mis-laid then

transmission errors are likely to occur.

CLEANLINESS

At all times keep the lathe clear of swarf. In particular

avoid the build-up of swarf in proximity to the precison
lead screws. These are protected to a certain extent in
that they are beneath the slide table sections for each
axis, but excessive swarf could easily penetrate the
spaces under the X and Z tables.

After brushing away the swarf, the lathe should be wiped

with a cloth dampened with white spirit.

LUBRICATING THE PRECISION LEAD

SCREWS

As well as keeping the screws clean they must also be

kept well lubricated with a general-purpose grease.

The grease may be applied using a brush and reaching

the screw from under the slide section. This is easy for
the X axis, but less so for the Z axis, which is closer to
the swarf tray.

It is inadvisable to remove all four slide blocks for the

vertical Z axis.

It may be necessary to dis-assemble the slides for both

X and Y axis in a similar manner.

LUBRICATING THE SLIDE RODS

Although the slide rods run in PTFE half bushes, it is

advisable to keep them lubricated with machine oil,
especially after wiping the mill clean with a degreasing
agent, such as white spirit.

AIR FILTER

A constant flow of cooling air is necessary for reliability of

the control electronics.
