Reading II. Process

Bringing a new pet in the house is the same as adding a new family
member. It can sometimes be as frightening as it is exciting. As pet
owners, we all want the best for our smallest and even furriest family
members. It is important for every pet owner to take care of their
chosen animal to get everything they need to be a happy and healthy
pet. Taking care of our pets is more than just making sure that their
bowl is full. So before you bring home your pet, be sure that you are
ready to help the new family member feel right at home.
Pets can look cute when you buy them but be ready for a
commitment because they need your care and attention everyday.
Think carefully before getting a pet and learn about what it needs.
Select one that is suited to your home, lifestyle and age because this
requires a portion of your time and money. Make sure you provide a
nutritious and well balanced diet. Provide suitable housing and
bedding. Be sure to clean up the cage and the litter box as often as
possible. Include your pet in planning for any family activity as well as
during emergency situations or when you are unable to take care of
your pet.
A pet owner's worst fear is losing a beloved companion who has
become his own child, sibling or best friend. The death of a pet can be a
very painful experience. It can create a feeling of emptiness in our
hearts and lives just like losing a family member. A pet is like a gift that
can change our lives and brings us happiness. It teaches us a sense of
responsibility, patience, kindness, discipline, playfulness and most
importantly, unconditional love.
