Polymerization refers to a process in a DNA molecule that involves the formation of new copies.

A DNA template forms the basis of the process where deoxyribonucleotides are continuously
added. A new DNA strand allows for the synthesis to occur in 5'-3' direction, indicating that the
process starts from the 3' end. In this case, the process of polymerization commences after
RNA primer is attached to the 3' end of the DNA template and towards the 5' end of the newly
formed strand and progresses towards the 5'-3' side. All along, deoxyribonucleotides are
continuously added.
