MRP Areas in SAP S/4 HANA:

When we assign MRP Areas in material, we need to mention MRP Type as ‘ND’ for scenarios where we
need to exclude a storage location in ECC. Materials with the MRP area specific MRP type ‘VB’ (reorder
point planning) can be used instead of materials with separately planned storage locations. The storage
location functionality is a subset of the MRP areas capabilities.

We need to define MRP areas storage location (S/4 HANA) wise and then maintain the data in Material
Master to plan and view stocks at storage location level

Configuration:

Transaction: OMIZ

Define the MRP area in a plant and assign a storage location to it

Click on the assign storage locations and assign SLOC as per below screenshot
In the Material Master we need to Assign the MRP area
Save the material 561

Before MRP Live run: 561 is part of material 100004138

Next steps are to create Purchase requisition to Purchase order and perform Goods recipt to bring stock in
171C SLOC under mrp area 1710_SLOC

Further, Stock from SLOC 171C will be used in Production orders for material 561 as backflush or manually
GI using 261 movement type in MIGO.

Conclusion: In SAP S/4 HANA we can plan on the basis of MRP area which are defined at Storage Locations
with the new Intra Plant and Cross Plant view it can be viewed easily in just one screen
