YOUR REFLECTIONS

A child has special educational needs if they have a learning problem or disability that make it
more difficult for them to learn than most children their age. They may have problems with
schoolwork, communication or behavior. Parents can get help and advice from specialists, teachers and
voluntary organizations. According to my research from the internet, Clara’s problem could be
Dyslexia. It is a language processing disorder that impacts reading, writing, and comprehension.
Dyslexics may exhibit difficulty decoding words or with phonemic awareness, identifying individual
sounds within words. Dyslexia often goes diagnosed for many years and often results in trouble with
reading, grammar, reading comprehension, and other language skills.2

disabilities-every-psychology-professional-should-study.
To help Clara with this kind of learning disabilities (DYSLEXIA), I decided to make some
strategies to capture her attention and to avoid troubles in following my instructions. I will position her
towards the front of the class. And I will prepare more visual presentation about my lessons. Call the
class to attention and ensure it is quiet before giving instructions. Reduce background noise if possible.
And Clara can be encouraged to perform written or hands on activities.
I should not take myself seriously as a teacher. I can help learning disabled students to focus and
follow my instructions in the proper manner by using engaging teaching strategies.
