INTRODUCTION

This History Student Based Assessment (SBA) seeks to explore the intricate details of the
Haitian Revolution. After thorough research,I will be placing great emphasis on these key
elemnets :

1. The impact of the American and French Revolutions


2. The brutal slave regime
3. The social and racial hierarchy of Saint Domingue

According to the- Britannica Haitian Revolution is clearly defined as, series of conflicts
between 1791 and 1804 between Haitian slaves, colonists, the arimies of the British and
French colonizers, and a number of other parties. Through the struggle, the Haitian people
ultimately won independence from France and thereby became the first country to be founded
by former slaves.

The Haitain Revolution was a series of conflicts brought on by the Revolution in France. This
period bought on problems and conflicts which led to Haitian slaves revolting to their
freedom. The Haitian Revolution was the large between slave rebellion in the Western
Hemisphere between 1791 and 1804 Haiti being a French Colony suffered due to France
economic downfall. The French Revolution brought many different concepts of human rights
which powered down into Haiti. Inspired by Events in France. Haiti inspired by Toussaint
L’overture the first black republican revolted against their European colonies.

This revolution led to many conflicts brought on by extreme poverty and harsh conditions.
The fight for equality between the mixed slaves and the whites created tension among these
groups which continued to grow after the French revolution. Causing haitian and mixed raced
people to conspire together against the slaves to revolt creation of the first free slave colony.
RATIONALE

After investigating a wide variety of topics I was truly inspired by the resilience of the Hatian
people i selected the area of research for multiple reasons inclusive of the convenience of
doing the research and their interesting aspects of the topic

I can confidently say that the part which fascinates me the most is the impact of the
American and French Revolution. I admire their ability to work in unity for a justified cause.
They worked collectively in achieving their freedom for everything they bought

I firmly believe that my SBA can be beneficial to me, my school, territory and my country
Dominica. My History SBA entitled the Hatian Revolution can be very beneficial and
resourceful to others because it contains relevant and pertinent information

The methods used to collect data for the research questionnaire. The primary source I used
was the internet for accurate research and the secondary source was my fifth for my history
textbook. I finally made a few trips to the Roseau Public Library
