He concluded that deposit mobilization in all forms of deposit shows considerable growth barring
certain exceptions in case of term deposits. A significant decline in number of accounts of current
deposit was noticed along with a rise in average amount per account. The author did not study the
business implications of the changing structure of current deposits. Noticed that deposit mobilized
by public sector banks during 2003 to 2012 reflect increasing trend although there is no significant
difference between current, saving and term deposits of public sector banks in India.

1.5.3 Review of Previous Work

Lama (2017) has conducted a research on “Fixed deposit analysis and its impact on profitability
of Himalayan Bank Limited”. The main objectives of her research are:

• To identify the trend of fixed deposit of the bank over the study period.
• To examine the cost on fixed deposit of the bank.
• To analysis the effect of fixed deposit on the profit of the Himalayan Bank Limited.

The major findings are:

• The trend of fixed deposit of Himalayan Bank is in increasing trend. Fixed Deposit of
Himalayan Bank is increasing annually because the bank gives more return than other bank
on the fixed deposit.
• The expenses on the fixed deposit interest is increasing each of the year because of the
bank increase the fixed deposit interest rate to attract the customer and to collect the more
money.
• Fixed deposit interest expenses is increasing annually but the bank maintain the spread rate
at profitability level. As a result he found the fixed deposit increased the profitability of
Himalayan Bank.

Karki (2013) Conduct a thesis on “Fixed deposit analysis and Impact on Profit of Civil Bank
Limited.” His major objective of the study are:

• To examine the fixed deposit to total deposit ratio over the last five years.
