SYSNOPSIS

James Bowen is a homeless man and a former heroin addict who survives on London's streets to his last bits of
change. His support worker, Val, in an attempt to get him off the street, takes him to a council flat after a life-
threatening, drug-related incident, and prescribes him on methadone. James finds a cat rifling through his food on his
first night at his flat. James tries to return the cat to his real owners, assuming he had escaped from somewhere. The
cat returns to James apartment, this time, with a purulent wound on his back leg, despite letting him go the same
evening. Worried, James is contacting his friend, Betty, who loves animals but is allergic. She tells James of the local
charity vet that she's volunteering, and she's named the cat Bob. James loses a meeting with Val waiting for a line at
the vet. James is later castrated by Bob after the meeting and sets him free. However, Bob continues to follow James
into the town, gradually attracting more crowds of people, making James wealthier, and finally choosing to keep Bob.
Bob becomes a tourist hotspot and becomes romantically attached to James and Betty. One night, James finds his old
friend, Baz, dead on his flat ground, overdosed with heroin as he returns home. Baz later dies in hospital, and James
points out Betty can't be about drug addicts because her deceased brother was one. James meets his biological
father, Jack, his stepmother, Hilary, and his beloved parents, Pris and Faith, impromptu on New Year's Eve. Hilary
throws out James and Bob after Bob ruins their living room. A Journalist, Mary, wants to write a book about James
and Bob, and James agrees. James then repairs his relationship with his father Jack and transforms his life for the
better.
