Interviewer: Tell us how you/your company obtained support from Dorper Wind Farm?
Interviewee: Dorper selected my company as part of their enterprise development pipeline,
and I was supported with gym equipment and operational site renovation for my gym on top
of that I was capacitated with business management trainings.
Interviewer: How have the interventions that they helped you/your company with? Why?
Interviewee: I think the interventions were an eye opener for me because I have always
been a business person even though I had no knowledge on how to run a successful
business, I was given the skills necessary. Those skills and equipment helped me a lot in
terms grooming and growing me into the person I am today.
Interviewer: How have the interventions been successful in assisting your sustainability? If
not, what were the short comings?
Interviewee: the support came right at the beginning, I was starting to crawl but somewhere
everything just stopped and the communication broke down between LifeCo and I, then
nothing was a success after that instead we exited the ED beneficiary cohort.
Interviewer: How have the interventions assisted in improving your livelihood? If not, what
were the shortcomings?
Interviewee: the interventions helped me make enough income to provide for my family, but
the challenges came through when LifeCo cancelled my enterprise development contract
without any explanation. They left me half way
Interviewer: How would you measure your benefit obtained from the interventions by Dorper
Wind Farm?
Interviewee: 4/10: because I feel, I did not receive the support and assistance I was meant
to receive in terms of development, so that I am able to stand on my own two feet after the
funding.

Interviewer: Tell us how you/your company obtained support from Dorper Wind Farm?
Interviewee: I wanted to open an internet café then I made an application to dorper for
equipment, computers and furniture.
Interviewer: How have the interventions that they helped you/your company with? Why?
Interviewee: I think because we used to send the quotations of what we requested and
that’s how I got the stuff that I have, although it’s not everything that I had quoted for…
Interviewer: How have the interventions been successful in assisting your sustainability? If
not, what were the short comings?
Interviewee: the interventions were not successful because we have a big challenge in
sterkstroom of buildings. So I have been struggling to get a site since the beginning of the
project. I had requested for a mobile container that I can use for my internet café.
Interviewer: How have the interventions assisted in improving your livelihood? If not, what
were the shortcomings?
Interviewee: the support I received from the DWF has stopped and was not completely
successful due to the other request I had made which were not attended.
Interviewer: How would you measure your benefit obtained from the interventions by Dorper
Wind Farm?
Interviewee: 6/10 the most important thing that they have done for me was give me a start-
up for my company, that I am grateful although there are things that we are not happy about.

Interviewer: Tell us how you/your company obtained support from Dorper Wind Farm?
Interviewee: Whenever we asked something from Dorper their response would always be
welcoming, as a results they have supported our ECD with educational toys, a computer and
a printer in the beginning of the project. We worked hand in hand with the people that
represented the DWF. We made an application and they bought us a computer and a printer
and some few educational toys for the little ones.
Interviewer: How have the interventions that they helped you/your company with? Why?
Interviewee: The support from dorper has been very helpful, however we’ve had
challenges whereas ECD managers we asked for financial support to fund our day to day
opernations and couldn’t get the assistance from the DWF.
Interviewer: How have the interventions been successful in assisting your sustainability? If
not, what were the short comings?
Interviewee: They have been successful in getting through to the next day but challenges
are there, like the ever increasing number of children at our school which result a need in
extra stuffing but then becomes very impossible without any financial support.
Interviewer: How have the interventions assisted in improving your livelihood? If not, what
were the shortcomings?
Interviewee: so far so good everything that they have invested in us has been of great help,
even the recent water tanks have come at a time where we really needed such measures.
Interviewer: How would you measure your benefit obtained from the interventions by Dorper
Wind Farm?
Interviewee: 5/10: I would say I, and my centre we are very happy and expecting more from
the DWF therefore I would like to ask them to consider adding some financial support to our
stuff here and then. Otherwise with the Khululeka projects everything good.

Interviewer: Tell us how you/your company obtained support from Dorper Wind Farm?
Interviewee: after a meeting with Zanele in 2017 with the other ECD managers we received
educational toys, a laptop and a printer that’s all we received.
Interviewer: How have the interventions that they helped you/your company with? Why?
Interviewee: they have helped us with the training from Khululeka that’s the only support
we find very valuable because it still ongoing..
Interviewer: How have the interventions been successful in assisting your sustainability? If
not, what were the short comings?
Interviewee: we had a lot of challenges, Zanele promised us a lot of things but nothing
happened. We submitted qoutations and didn’t receive any feedback, however with the
computer and printer they supported us with they have been very helpful.
Interviewer: How have the interventions assisted in improving your livelihood? If not, what
were the shortcomings?
Interviewee: like I said by the Khululeka training because now my stuff professionally skilled
and equipped to run the centre without my presence.
Interviewer: How would you measure your benefit obtained from the interventions by Dorper
Wind Farm?
Interviewee: 2/10 because we really had many promises from Dorper they never initiated
and fulfilled any of those promises.

Interviewer: Tell us how you/your company obtained support from Dorper Wind Farm?
Interviewee: I will talk from the stakeholders that I work with especially the Hospital side,
we have really benefited from the DWF. I think they bought us ventilation machines,
cameras and computers. When it comes to the police statstion dorper have recently helped
us by buying counter top screens to maintain social distancing.
Interviewer: How have the interventions that they helped you/your company with? Why?
Interviewee: I think those two interventions I have just mentioned were efficient and very
close to our hearts because they really went a long way, especially our hospital. We
wouldn’t have been able to buy those machines because they’re very expensive and our
hospital is very safe. And for that we are thankful as the community although I still believe
they can do more.
Interviewer: How have the interventions been successful in assisting your sustainability? If
not, what were the short comings?
Interviewee: I think most of their interventions were successful but not sustainable.
However there are other elements of the projects that are very helpful like the Inkqwithelo
zotshintsho bursaries and the MathsciTech classes for the Grade 12 these projects have
going for more that two years now helping our children and they have been successful in
improving the results.
Interviewer: How have the interventions assisted in improving your livelihood? If not, what
were the shortcomings?
Interviewee: the opportunity creation has improved a lot community members livelihoods,
our communities have university graduates today because of the wind farm. Challenges are
there especially when it comes to employment creation, dorper can do more.
Interviewer: How would you measure your benefit obtained from the interventions by Dorper
Wind Farm?
Interviewee: 6/10 because there’s room for improvement. Otherwise we’re happy with all
that the wind farm has begun to do for our communities.
