On behalf of the staff and faculty on the Admissions Committee at the California Institute of
Technology, I would like to thank you for your interest in the first-year class. We recognize
the energy it takes to prepare an application and appreciate the care and thoughtfulness you
put into the process. It is with regret that we are unable to offer you a place in our incoming
class. 

I want to assure you that each application is thoroughly reviewed by members of the
Admissions Committee. Our incoming class size remains small at 235 students total, so this
means we are passing over many talented students. Caltech has an applicant pool that greatly
outpaces the number of spaces available, so this decision is not a negative reflection of your
qualifications or your potential to succeed. 

We have no doubt that you will be tremendously successful in the future; while our
admissions decision is final, we believe your college journey is only just beginning.
