Now broadening our idea of analysis, we have the

ELEMENTS THAT CONSTITUTE ANALYSIS
1. Determination of subject matter through naming events or issues associated with the
artwork
This is just to really get to know them more personally. As many artists are known to have
performed or executed their artworks at a certain time that they feel is worth projecting their
emotions and their perspective about the matter that made an impact on their being.
2. Discussion of how the qualities of the artwork contribute to its appearance, image or
function
This is just how, maybe the materials, brush strokes, color combinations, the overall design etc.
would affect the artwork’s uniqueness, structure, or maybe the feel of it.
3. Effect of the materials/medium used
As every material brings something special and new to the art, influencing how artists make
their work and how viewers perceive it.
4. Your reaction to the artwork
Let’s take for example old paintings, some may look at it as nostalgic as it tends to bring them
back to their childhood, while as for some, they may feel amazed and or enlightened.

The following questions can also be answered:
1.How did the artist make the artwork?
The styles they incorporated, what is on their minds while executing the artwork, and what are
the available materials within the time of making.
2.Is it good artwork?
For this one it is simply subjective.
3.Do you like/dislike the artwork? Why?
And of course, if you say that an artwork is good then what incorporates it in becoming a good
artwork.
4.How does it compare with other artworks in the same contemporary style?
Is the artist within the same field of style, thinking, skills, origin as the other executors?
5.What is the value of the artwork to you, the youth, or society?
Some may relate, some may be inspired, and some may also treasure it, as it defines for
example, their culture and or practice.
