1. What are your first overall impressions of the films?
My impression concludes appreciation to people who were part of the documentary. They are fulfilling their privileged to study the greater deep though that 1950’s and 1960’s have no much advanced technologies to keep them safe in investigating and studying about the life in the sea as we have right now yet they still try to discover more knowledge and understanding to what is in the deep. Seeing the state of the ocean 70 years ago feels like time travelling I’ve never seen ocean like that even in in videos before. 70 years ago of a video but still it is supplementing knowledge and discovery until now. 2. What contributions did the Cousteau Team make to Oceanography and Marine Biology? His contribution is so much important to open curiosity on marine biology to study the life under the ocean, and how to take advantage from it. Without him making oceanography popular maybe people won’t get interest in studying marine life. 3. What significant discoveries did they make/observe/document that is still valid today? What struck me the most is that they discovered that there is life in coral reefs. With his exploration he discovered and used cameras to document life under the water- I think this is the most significant of his all discoveries because without him discovering that he can use camera to capture life in depth of water there would be no curiosity booming today; and until today camera are now used to make documentation to analyze and study different life under the sea without compromising the sea creatures life and conserving it. 4. What practices/methods made by the team during their time are still valid/practiced today? Dcumenting using camera, usage of underwater vehicles to study the world without sun, and scuba diving. 5. What practices/methods made by the team during their time have been lost or are not followed today, even though they seem practical and useful? The usage of dynamite to catch fishes they will study. Putting the fish in a plastic. 6. What practices/methods made by the team during that time may be considered controversial, illegal, or unethical today? How would you defend their actions? Killing of shark. Riding in turle, Usage of dynamite
