Land and sea breeze

How was wind form

During the day, air above the land heats up faster than
air over water. Warm air over land expands and rises,
and heavier, cooler air rushes in to take its place,
creating wind. At night, the winds are reversed because
air cools more rapidly over land than it does over water

What is the importance of wind?

Wind has a very important role in aiding plants and other

immobile organisms in dispersal of seeds, spores,
pollen, etc. Although wind is not the primary form of
seed dispersal in plants, it provides dispersal for a large
percentage of the biomass of land plants.

Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the

atmosphere by the sun, variations in the earth's surface,
and rotation of the earth. Mountains, bodies of water,
and vegetation all influence wind flow patterns,. Wind
turbines convert the energy in wind to electricity by
rotating propeller-like blades around a rotor.

4 wind directions

In the beginning, there are just four main wind

directions: north, south, east, and west. Most often, on
compass, to shorten the place, they are designated by
the letters: N, S, E, and W. North and south are the
Earth's north and south poles, respectively.

The wind strength can be indicated either by measuring

its speed, i.e. in knots that correspond to miles per hour
(1 knot = 1 mile per hour = 1.85 km/h), or by the
Francis Beaufort scale. Speed is measured by the
anemometer, a simple wheel exposed to the strength of
the wind to measure its rotation speed.

Wind information

Wind is the movement of air from an area of high

pressure to an area of low pressure. In fact, wind exists
because the sun unevenly heats the surface of the
Earth. As hot air rises, cooler air moves in to fill the void.
Details about wind

 Wind is the flow of gases, here on Earth it refers to

the movement of air.
 It is caused by differences in air pressure. ...
 Short bursts of wind moving at high speeds are
known as gusts.
 Depending on their strength, winds can be known
as a breeze, gale, storm or hurricane.
Charles F. Brush is the inventor of wind and is the inventor
of wind turbine. The first wind turbine is made in 1887
