Needs assessment:

The needs inside of Sunset Vista are community involvement and curriculum. When

discussing more with Mrs. Baker about what is needed at our school she agrees that these are

needs and we have come up with solutions to these needs. This year we focused on those needs

again as the pandemic has slightly decreased and we are able to involve more outside agencies to

help us complete the CIP.

Improvement Actions:

These two needs are huge needs that need action immediately. For community

involvement as a school, we are working on creating family nights and events for parents and

community members to come to. Sunset Vista wants to have parents and community members

come to technology nights and school carnivals. As a school, we also say that our curriculum did

not serve our students well for the 21st-century skills that they need. There were many schools in

the district that also felt this way. As a result, we have new math, science, and social studies

curriculum to help support students and have a variety of student ethics represented.

Shared plans:

The forehand of this work is done by the leadership team, teachers, a classified staff

member, and a parent in the school. After the needs at assessed and action plans are decided the

guided coalition team, the teachers that are doing the work, are the ones that share it with the

staff so that the whole school has an understanding.

CIP and Vision/Mission Alignment:

There is alignment with the mission statement and the needs through having engaging

night activities that they can show off their work. The need for a curriculum is aligned with the
mission as we want students to have high levels of learning through our curriculum. The new

adoption of curricula will allow Sunset Vista staff to do this.
