2022 KCNA Office Seasons Greetings

by Rev. Amy Uzunoe-Chin

Chief Administrative Minister

Associate Minister of the Konko Church of Portland

On behalf of the entire KCNA Office: Happy New Year 2022!

あけましておめでとうございます!今年もよろしくお願いします。

We truly appreciate all your support, prayers and “goyo” as we continue to work towards helping us develop
each other’s faith and to fulfill Kami’s Wish together.
It has been a long journey as this Pandemic continues but as our Founder taught us, “Divine Favor Depends
Upon our own Heart.” What is important is our willingness to be open and listen to the voice of the Universe
(Kami’s voice/messages) that surrounds us and make everything we do meaningful with a Kami-Centered heart.
In 2021, we learned that through Mediation, we are able to revive our Kami Centered heart and realize the “Life
Changing Benefits (blessings) of (Toritsugi) Mediation.”
This Year’s 2022 KCNA Theme is: “Strengthen Our Relationship with Kami through Reflection, Sacred Medi-
ation, and Practice”
Mediation introduces us to the nature of Kami’s love. As we get to know Kami better through this Mediation,
we will begin to see that “reflection” happening in our daily lives which will build trust and reliance between Kami
and ourselves. This is an important part of our daily “practice” in faith training to develop a Kami-Centered heart
and realize our relationship with Kami.
Like any human relationship, it is important to develop an understanding and trust that will allow us to truly
help one another. Kami wants to help solve problems with us together, however, we must also understand Kami’s
Will and intention too. Kami is always there to help us see a path that is best for staying Kami-Centered.
So, let us strengthen our relationship with Kami by reflecting on our faith daily. Get to know Kami by seeking
Sacred Mediation, then practice with an intent in making each day and each occurrence meaningful and filled with
gratitude. Kami is always waiting to work together with you.
We also would like to give our deep condolences and continued Prayers for not only those in our communities,
but those in our Konko Community, who have either passed away or fallen sick during this Pandemic. Please join
us in prayer to Kami to protect and guide our loved ones still recovering and pray for those Mitama who have
passed away to continually be remembered and embraced by Kami’s warm love.
Thank you everyone for your goyo and your leadership. We look forward to being able to see all of you in per-
son once again and to do goyo together soon.
Please take care, Stay HEALTHY, Stay STRONG, Stay SAFE and Stay CONNECTED with Kami!
The yearly themes were based on each line of the Tenchi Kakitsuke, thus we receive/realize blessings by fol-
lowing the Divine Reminder prayer which tells you how to practice faith.

The first line, "Through Ikigami Konko Daijin...," was the basis of the 2021
Theme and reflected the importance of Ikigami Konko Daijin's Toritsugi Media-
tion.

The second line, "To Tenchi Kane no Kami, Pray with a single heart..." is the ba-
sis of the 2022 Theme, which establishes the importance of communicating our
problems and blessings with Kami through Mediation.

III Konko Kyoso Gorikai 5-1:

"Until now, Kami has never spoken words for people to hear. Wherever people worshipped their prayers were
only one-sided. People can receive divine blessings if they pray single-heartedly, because Kami lives in their
hearts."
III Konko Kyoso Gorikai 6:
“Although Kami cannot be seen, you are constantly walking within and through the midst of Kami. Even while
fertilizing a field or walking along a path, you are in Tenchi Kane No Kami’s hiromae. The whole world is Tenchi
Kane No Kami’s hiromae.”
We cannot physically see Tenchi Kami no Kami, but because we are Kami’s beloved children, we can ask any-
thing of Kami. Have you ever thought of Kami as our parent? Like an ideal, eternal guardian, Kami is dependable
and lets us feel safe in any situation.
Thus, no matter who you are or where you are, you will never be alone. You can communicate with Kami and
Kami will listen, guide and protect you.
