The PLC only starts position set 1. The required speed re-
duction at the end of the blank stroke is performed by the
servo controller without standstill and without additional
control by the PLC. The following record 2 – joining – is
started. Only when its target position is reached the servo
controller signals the reaching of target position and stops
the drive.
Now the PLC starts position set 0 for home position run.
The PLC alone determines the moment. Like that, e.g. in
case of faulty components a confirmation by the operator
can be awaited.

The PLC only starts position set 1. The required speed re-
duction at the end of the respective target positions is per-
formed by the servo controller without standstill and with-
out additional activation by the PLC. The following records
2 to 4 are started. Only when the target position of posi-
tion set 4 is reached the servo controller will signal the
reaching of the target position and stop the drive.
Then the PLC starts position set 0 for home position run.
The PLC will again determine the moment.

The PLC just triggers position set 1. The required speed ad-
justments at the end of the respective target positons are
initiated by the servo controller without stops and further
control by means of the PLC.
The sequential sets 2 to 4 are executed. Only when the
target positon is reached with position set 4, a signal is is-
sued by the device after stopping the drive.
Now, the PLC can start the back stroke. This is either ef-
fected by the command to traverse back or by selection of
position set 0 in the operating mode Move to Home posi-
tion traverse. Again, the right time for this is exclusively de-
termined by the PLC.

deactivated: The window is switched off for the evaluation. Like that it is possible to exclude windows
from the evaluation, without deleting them.
xmin
The x-section in which the gradient is calculated and controlled.
xmax
Specifies the interval, in which the alteration of curve gradient must lie, so that a breakpoint can be recog-
nized as such.
∆gradmin The alteration of curve gradient is determined between two neighbouring curve sections of the length
delta_x. As soon as this gradient alteration – within the section [xmin, xmax] – is higher than or equal to
∆gradmax ∆gradmin for the first time and below or equal to ∆gradmax this curve point P is recognized as breakpoint.
Length of the x-interval over which the gradients (i.e. the difference quotients ∆y2/∆x and ∆y1/∆x) are
determined, and from there the alteration of gradient.
∆x
The parameter should be selected carefully. A higher ∆x causes stronger smoothing of the curve, smaller y-
peaks can like that not enter the gradient calculation.
Description
If 0.00 is default setting for the trigger offset , a pure break control is carried out thought the
breakpoint:
As soon as a breakpoint (in this case with falling gradient) has been diagnosed, regardless if it is
inside or outside the window, the work piece is considered destroyed and the signal output YTE
Trigger offset set in real time. The complete measurement is evaluated NOK.
If the trigger offset is programmed unequal 0.00, a real breakpoint control is carried out.
Contrary to the pure break control a breakpoint must be found and it must lie in the interval
[ymin, ymax] so that the measurement can be evaluated OK.
In the real breakpoint control an online trigger output is set, after a breakpoint has been found,
and after a defined way section (or a rotation angle or after a time interval at time measure-
ment) has been travelled from x-position of the breakpoint or after modification of the y-
quantity (force, torque,..) by a certain amount regarding the y-position of the breakpoint.
Units
The dimension unit of the trigger offset defines whether an x- or a y triggering should take
Trigger offset
place. If the x-dimension unit is selected the trigger offset is an x-section, after it has been
traversed from breakpoint the signal output XTE is set. If however, the
y-dimension unit is set, after a modification of the y-value the signal output YTE is set by the
amount "trigger offset" regarding the breakpoint y-value.

Direction of force
The direction of force specifies whether the force-maximum (compression),
-minimum (traction) or both values (traction&compression) are recorded and
evaluated during the measurement. If the direction of force is traction
&compression, a band can be created depending on the measuring signal (e.g.
signal noise). The width of this band represents for each X-value the correspond-
ing Min-Y and Max-Y value. At traction&compression please note that in the
window evaluation the spaces from both the min- and max-values to the respec-
tive window edges must be checked.

Parameter Description
The maximum press force can be limited. Notice there is no linear relation between
Force limitation
the nominal press force of the system and the force limitation. The requested max.
force depends on mass and speed and must be determined by successive approxi-
mation. Range of adjust 50 … 100 %.
The configured set point value is valid for all position sets, including acceleration
and brake. If the force limitation is configured too low, it is possible that the energy
is not sufficient to reach the requested nominal speed, or the target position may
be over traveled, because there is insufficient braking energy. For this reason when
the device is put into operation accurate tests must be carried out.
Should force limitation be performed directly from the PLC to the servo controller,
the parameter transmission may be turned off. After appropriate reprogramming
the servo controller can obtain its limit value either as analog signal or directly as
fieldbus parameter. Like that, the PLC can decide whether the active position set
requires more or less power.

Parameter Description
Force Limitation The maximum press force can be limited. Notice there is no linear relation be-
tween the nominal press force of the system and the force limitation. The re-
quested max. force depends on mass and speed and must be determined by
successive approximation. Range of adjust 50 -100%.
The configured set point value is valid for all position sets, including acceleration
and brake. If the force limitation is configured too low, it is possible that the
energy is not sufficient to reach the requested nominal speed, or the target
position may be over travelled, because there is insufficient braking energy. For
this reason when the device is put into operation accurate tests must be carried
out.
Should force limitation be performed directly from the PLC to the servo control-
ler, the parameter transmission may be turned off. After appropriate repro-
gramming the servo controller can obtain its limit value either as analog signal
or directly as fieldbus parameter. Like that, the PLC can decide whether the
active position set requires more or less power.

For optimizing the transfer time of position sets, the count
of sets must be defined for each program. For all programs
this defined common limitation is fixed. Therefore the max-

are necessary.

In consequence of the maximum number of position sets
per program, a “rest" will result, which is filled with the
position sets of the next program. The input there will be
limited to the permitted total number.

Sensor Type SSI factory configured
Setting Description
The input of the resolution of the SSI signal can either be effected through
the Bits per unit or through the linear resolution of the transducer. The re-
spective other not relevant input quantity is zeroed and ignored.
Bits per unit indicates the Bits of the SSI signal for the resolution of an X-
Bit per Unit
unit (e.g. 1 mm).
Example: 12 Bit per unit and a 24 Bit SSI-signal (dimension unit should be
alternative
mm) results in a resolution of 1/212mm = 0,244 μm
The value range that should be displayed is ±211mm = ±2 048 mm
resolution
Resolution indicates which change of length equals an increment of the SSI
–signal.
For the DMF-P A310 Universal Type 4740A… only the resolution can be
set. The setting value of the system is 0,100000 μm.
