Q1 (a) The lift control system is the system responsible for coordinating all aspects of elevator
service such as travel, speed, and accelerating, decelerating, door opening speed and
delay, leveling and hall lantern signals.

(i) With the aid of a diagram, compare the difference between up collective control
method and directional collective control method of a lift control system in a
building.

(ii) Propose a suitable lift control method for an apartment building complete with a
shopping complex at the lowest level of the apartment and car park at the highest
level of the apartment. Justify your proposal.
