1. ASSIMILATION
is a sound change process that cause a similar new sound

Example (in bahasa) sabtu-saptu, rinso-ringso, shampoo-shangpoo

2. METATHESIS
IS a transposition of speech sound
Example ( in bahasa): jalur-lajur, kerikil-kelikir, royal-loyal,
( in English): tragedy-tragedy

3. EPENTHESIS
Is the insertion of an extra consonant within a word
EXAMPLE: something – insertion of /p/ sound, thumb- insertion of /p/ sound, sense-
insertion of/t/ sound, lend-insertion of/t/ sound, bound- insertion of /t/ sound

4. EPITHESIS
Is the addition of an extra consonant at the end of the word
Example: cotton-cottons, attention-attentions, glass-glasses, grass-grasses

5. SYNCOPE
Is the lost of sound in the middle of word
Example: camera- cam( e )ra, aspirin-as(pi)rin, comparable- comp(a)rable,
restaurant-rest(au)rant

6. APOCOPE

Is the lost of sound at the end of word. Often, the loss of sound occurs in unstressed
syllables, and frequently involves a vowel next to /r/

Example: ca (r) , ba(r), sca (r), fa ( r),
