B) OUTLINE (11 PTS.)

TITLE: Black market affects legitimate businesses

I. Introduction

Introduction Statements: When we talk about black market, we are talking

about a market that sells a variety of products illegally. The banning of several
products causes that the people who demand those products can only acquire
them and go to the black market. However, black market consumers, most of
them legitimate business owners, are exposed to be deceived and do not have a
right to claim in court due to the illegality of the transaction. According to a
report, black markets are constituted by illegal transactions, therefore, trying
to quantify their size is really hard. However, it is estimated that it represents
more than 2% of the world's gross domestic product (GDP).

Thesis statements: Even when some legitimate business owners think that
buying from black markets they can find much more products at a better price
and much more benefits, in my opinion, black markets affect legitimate
business owners because the product that was purchased may be dangerous
and the risks at long term are high.

II. Body

A. First body paragraph - topic sentence: The product that was

purchased in the black markets by legitimate business owners may
be dangerous, since there are no legal controls attached to it and
they do not have a right to go to court and claim.

1.First supporting sentence: No legal controls attached to the products

purchased can lead to high risks.

a. Detail: The sale of products that have been acquired

illegally can cause health risks for customers of the
legitimate businesses.

b. Explanation: Because it is not known for sure if the

products are original or have been adulterated.

c. Example: For example, if they were medicines or drugs,

the consumer will not really know what he is consuming
and this will cause risks to his health and problems for the
owners of legitimate companies, who bought the drugs on
the black market.

2.Second supporting sentence: Consumers of the products purchased

do not have a right to go to court and claim.

d. Detail: Buyers who own legitimate businesses cannot claim

in court if they have been deceived, since the transaction is
illegal.

e. Explanation: Because they are unprotected and have no

legal guarantees that the seller complies with the agreed
conditions.
f. Example: For example, if they try to claim in court, nothing
would be done, since the transaction is not registered.

Concluding sentence: With no legal controls and no possibility to file a

claim in court, black market purchases are very dangerous.

B. Second body paragraph - topic sentence: The products that were

purchased in the black markets by legitimate business owners
create high risks at long term such as discrediting the company and
loss in profits.

1.First supporting sentence: The image of the company may be

affected.

a. Detail: This image can be affected due to the illegal

transaction that was made in order to purchase their goods.

b. Explanation: Because, if the origin of their products is

revealed the company's image will be compromised.

c. Example: For example, if a client of the company has a

tremendous problem with the product purchased and he
claims to the court. An investigation will be done and the
illegal origin of the company's products will be known.

2.Second supporting sentence: A company can lose its profits

due to the purchase of illegal products.

a. Detail: By buying illegal products and being discovered

they can lose their profits.

b. Explanation: Because they are discovered, they will be not

able to continue with the business leading to the loss of their
profits.

c. Example: For example, if the police discover the illegal

transactions of the legitimate owners company, they will
close the company and give them a big fine.

III. Concluding paragraph

Restatement of the thesis statement: Even though some legitimate business

owners believe that buying from black markets is better, to my way of
thinking, black markets originate more consequences because the products
purchased can be dangerous and at long term there will be high risk.
Summary of major points: Some consequences are that these products can be
really dangerous for the business owners because there are no legal controls
attached to them and can create high risks in the future such as damaging the
company's image and a loss in their profits.

Final statement: Do not forget that it is better to be legal than illegal!

Black market affects legitimate businesses

When we talk about black market, we are talking about a market that sells a
