NARRATIVE REPORT ON FEEDING PROGRAM

Education is a key to development and a powerful tool for lifting millions of the world’s
poor out of poverty. As the educational level of a population increases, so do its chances of
living a healthy, productive life.

To step up the health and nutrition of the grade school students of Punta Engaño High
School, led by the MAPEH and TLE Teacher Ms. Aiza C. Augusto, who spearheaded a
supplementary feeding program for the wasted and the severely wasted children of this school,
on Dec 13, 2021. The program aims at the reduction of acute malnutrition among grade school
students.

Ms. Aiza C. Augusto, along with the MAPEH Coordinator Ms. Generose M. Mahusay,
distinguished those severely wasted students Grade 7 to Grade 10 levels for the feeding
program. Following the screening, there are 40 recipients of the program. All of the recipients
were provided daily with a delectable and nutritious meal of rice porridge loaded with chicken
egg, chicken meat, and vegetables harvested from “Gulayan sa Paaralan” garden such as
carrots, potatoes and malunggay (Moringa) leaves of which are then prepared by vacant
teachers and volunteers.

Upon the actual feeding, health protocols were observed as stated by DepEd like proper
hand washing and proper food handling. After the recipients had finished eating, we also
immediately cleaned up the area.

Giving nutritious foods to the children could be the best way for them to be provided
with adequate nutrition. And through the food that they eat, it could also energize their day.
Therefore, I conclude that this program is for the benefit of the students who are in the state of
poverty and hunger.
